This new cast worked beautifully together! The 'Kobayashi Maru' was cool but a bit to glib & just once, I would have liked to have heard that ‘drawn’ out word from Kirk, but Chris Pine was awesome! BEST CHARACTER - Hands down KARL URBAN as "Bones!" There were moments you thought you were hearing Deforest Kelley. Close 2nd - Zachary Quinto was a fantastic "Spock!" WORST CHARACTER - WYNONA RYDER! BEST HUMOR - Simon Pegg as "Scotty!" BEST MOMENT - seeing Leonard Nimoy! Anyone, any age should enjoy “Star Trek!” And for you "Trekkies" out there, pay attention! There are little references to things ONLY a Trekkie would know from other series & or movies! =)

Run, don't walk to the closest theater to see this movie! I went to this movie with two other people. One a true Star Trek fan, (I think he can speak Klingon) and one who has never seen any Star Trek at all (how is that possible I wonder) and BOTH of them loved it. This IS going to be the summer movie to beat. I won't foolishly hope for the academy to notice, but the box office will prove this movies worth this summer.

Two thumbs up for this prequel to the classic 'Star Trek' saga - I'm not a Trekker, or a Trekkie, but have been a loyal follower through the years. There are a couple of inconsistencies - even accepting the bizzarre rupture in the space time continuum, but overall this movie rocks! The storyline is tight, the filming and technical effects superb - fully deserves the top spot this summer. It will be a tough act to follow for the other movies coming out later in the year.

This is an awesome stand alone movie for all ages. It stays true to the old series and the other Star Trek movies with the characters and some of the well known one liners. Lots of action and twists with fantastic special effects and a feel good ending!

I enjoyed this movie as a JJ Abrams fan and a Trek fan, but there are some major flaws. JJ Abrams needs to tone down the shaky cam and lens flares. At times on bridge shots it looks like the actor is standing in front of a 3 foot floodlight. Also, the shaky cam is ridiculously shaky at times, and especially in IMAX it makes the entire screen a huge blur. At times the musical score was also way too loud, overly epic, and used a bit out of place. I still think the movie is good, and its an awesome IMAX experience, but don't let the fanboys blind you. This is a good start to a "reboot" of Star Trek, but its far from "perfection" as one reviewer stated.

I'm not too crazy for Star trek episode but this movie have action from the begining to the end. Now, is a lot better when you go and watch it on the IMAX theater. The Sound is awesome and a sharp image.

It's not too often that a movie sequal comes along that makes it's predessors pale in comparison, but J.J. Abrams' spin at the helm of Roddenberry's sci-fi trek does just that. And to have the vision to film it in iMax format took the series where no sci-fi adventure has gone before. A thrill ride for the eyes and ears, Star Trek: The iMax Experience is a movie that people will be using as a watermark for sci-fi movies to come. I know where my movie money is going to in the future... anything showing in iMax format!

Visually stunning, the IMAX experience worth the extra driving time.
The action, the visuals, the dialogue, is all fantastic and will not disappoint. The FX production value is so high you will not feel like you are watching CG or special effects -- they blend in with the real life acting seamlessly.
Plot moves forward at a good pace -- characters unfold in a way that both the uninitiated viewer and Trek fans can appreciate. However the plot unfolds predictably, and is the weak point of the film. Without writing a spoiler, all I can say is that they missed a couple of good opportunities to surprise or twist the plot, and instead revealed what was happening in bite size pieces so you see the ending coming well before it arrives.

I have always and will always be a Trek fan, not a trekkie, just a fan. I have seen every movie of the franshise and not all have been that great, this one blew me away. The story was right in line with the orginal TV series and the CGI effects brought tolife what we could only imagine back in the 60's for a sci-fi movie. There is plenty of action and fresh enough so that you do not have to a fan of the orginal to enjoy it, but there are enough references to the older moive to granish a grin and chuckle for the most die hard "trekkie" out there. It was an awesome experience on the IMAX screen, geat sound and quality of the movies worth the few extra bucks for the experience.

Let me first point out that the picture was unbelievable. It felt like I was really flying in space engaging in the stunning battle scenes. However, the plot seemed way too simple and predictable. Moreover, the character development was contrived and lacking. That being said, this movie is worth seeing for the nice picture alone. However, I must warn that It is obvious that this movie was marginalized in an attempt to draw in non-Star Trek fans, and with this marginalization, a lot of the complexity went out the window.

We knew them when they were already a crew. JJ Abrams shows us how they bonded and the magic therein. True to the legacy, but fresh and frothy, we find these younger versions of our beloved Enterprise crew readily recognizeable. Not the greatest villain of the series, but Bana does crazed avenger very well. The Zachary incarnation of Spock is spot on. Catch the magic. When will the next adventure begin?

Not since seeing the premier of the first STAR WARS film at the Chinese Mann Theatre in 70mm has there been a better movie. The IMAX just adds to a great film. All the charactors were very three dimensional, the special effects were a new treat to these old eyes, and the story line was exciting.

Totally enjoyable! They knocked it out of the park! When the movie ended. The sold out crowd gave a standing ovation. Star Trek : The IMAX experience. It was better than the best ride at an amusement park. Plus: The best written movie to come out of Hollywood, so far this century!

Wow, what a film! Everything is so well done: the acting, the special effects, the story. Bringing Spock I into the same time frame as Spock II (or is it the other way around?) took a bit of creating imagining, but it all works. The young Kirk looks a bit scrawny relative to the adult, but who cares? I saw the regular version as well as the digital projection IMAX version and recommend the IMAX, though maybe there is a bit of pixelation in the rapid motion sequences.

Action Movie + Sci Fi + JJ + Star Trek = PERFECTION!
It was a 2 hour, 6 minute action ride!! You leave the theatre fully entertained and wonder what happened to the 2 hours and 6 minutes since it feels like 6 minutes went by.
A fantastic movie even for die hards.

As a Trekkie of over 40 yrs, fan of all the tv series, movies and books. I was thrilled with this version. I like the plot twists. I loved the graphics. They went where no man could go in the 1960's. They added some punch but kept the flavors. I can't wait for more....

This latest installment in the STAR TREK universe is like a breath of fresh air. The last couple outing failed to deliver on what we've come to expect from our heroes, but STAR TREK comes through in spades. It's a brilliant story set to a wonderful balance of gifted pacing, breathtaking action, character development, and humor. Best of all is a stellar (pun intended) stable of young actors who took the homage seriously and parked it. Do yourself a favor and see this in IMAX - You'll be glad you did.

I was skeptical at first, because the original Star Trek isnt Star Trek with the original cast. But hey, its Star Trek and any true fan will at least give it a chance. What I found was that the movie was so well scripted, the paradoxes and changes that we Star Trek veterans have come to know as fact was covered in such a way that it didnt go against anything we grew up learning as the Star Trek universe and the suprise appearance ties up all the loose ends of the changes that were made to our once stable universe.
