Visually stunning, the IMAX experience worth the extra driving time.
The action, the visuals, the dialogue, is all fantastic and will not disappoint. The FX production value is so high you will not feel like you are watching CG or special effects -- they blend in with the real life acting seamlessly.
Plot moves forward at a good pace -- characters unfold in a way that both the uninitiated viewer and Trek fans can appreciate. However the plot unfolds predictably, and is the weak point of the film. Without writing a spoiler, all I can say is that they missed a couple of good opportunities to surprise or twist the plot, and instead revealed what was happening in bite size pieces so you see the ending coming well before it arrives.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
