I would definitely recommend Star Trek to anyone who likes SciFi or action films. The characters of Kirk and Spock were true to the original characters - hope they can do more of these movies with the cast of this one. Scotty, Bones, Uhura, Checkov, Sulu did an excellent job also.

This was a Mother's Day gift to my Mom. She has been a trekkie since she was a kid. The story was great and why? It had the elements of love, family, leadership, faith, revenge, using your talents to get the job done, trust, courage, etc. all characteristics that affect us sometime in our lives. And seeing this movie on the IMAX screen was dynamite! It was like you were there with them. It doesn't disappoint from beginning to end. Worth the time and money. Hope there is a sequel.

The movie was true to the original characters, more so than I realized, until I returned home and watched an rerun if the original series. I was not looking forward to the new Kirk or Spock as I felt the would be demeaning Shatner and Nimoy. I was wrong and the events portrayed give the writers permission to recreate everything--ingenious!!!
I will watch it many times and am already excited about the next movie, which has not been the case since Wrath of Khan and In Search of Spock.

Knowing only limited information about the original Star Trek movies and tv series, I still loved this flick. Similarly I started watching Lost in season 4, and I look forward to every episode. J.J. Abrams has a way of turning every 5 minutes of everything he does into a short sequence of events that you don't want to miss. It was an epic movie with non-stop action that keeps you on our feet! I've been a hardcore fan of Star Trek for a long time and I have to say that they really brought the old characters back to life. Sure there were a great deal of differences between the original and this movie, but it was a great way to bring a great new story. JJ Abrams did a great job with everything. It definitely isn't Gene Roddenberry, but it is everything you can imagine in the chaos of space. The visuals were just stunning, the phaser fights to ship battles. I think there is no other way to enjoy this movie but to watch it in IMAX. You just have to see it to believe it. I feel as though my eyes have had a visual overload! EPIC! The details.

I'm looking forward to the follow-up. The character development was very light, seeming more an articulation of what we already understood. The film paid homage yet breathes a visceral quality into the exploits of the crew. It reminds you how superlative the legend of the original characters and the action in sci-fi can be. The action sequences were pretty and differentiate this Star Trek evolution from others in the franchise. The use of perspective modernizes the action. You know how in some movies you are completely aware of how much time has passed? In Star Trek, you are completely immersed in this fantasy world. When Chris Pine says "I'm James Tiberius Kirk" you truly believe he is. And when Zachary Quinto says he's Spock, you believe him as well. The overall movie was fantastic. Possibly the best Star Trek movie ever! Humor (well delivered and timed perfectly with due respect to the original show), character origins and development, fast-paced and often explosive action makes the 2 hrs 6 min pass very quickly. The whole "main" cast rocks and makes this a really fun outing. The purists will recoil at the rearranged timeline (but, thankfully, I rarely go to movies with them). Is this the beginning of something??? Star Trek: The New Original Generation? Star Trek: The Reprise Missions? Star Trek: The Next Previous Generation (Heroes' Sylar would have to develop Hiro's time travel ability to keep up with roles in both series!)? At least, are there movie sequels in the offing?

This Movie was more than I thought it was going to be - very well done. And the big screen Imax was impressive. Unfortunately the ticket taker at the Saco Imax Theater did not know 'where' the Imax theater was located in the building and she had me waiting in the wrong line while the Imax line grew fairly long. Fortunately I was able to get a good seat despite this uninformed employee.

A beautiful film that is only made more impressive when viewed in IMAX. They use a brilliant plot twist that keeps the inevitable "that wasn't how it was in the original" comments that come with a prequel from happening. I did not like the fact that, as many prequels end up doing, the "old" technology looks a lot more advanced than the "new" technology. I understand that new CGI technology makes it easier to make a more "accurate" design, but wouldn't that just make it easier to make things look less advanced as well? We can now hope to see many more installments with this "new" crew in place without damaging the original story lines. Very well done.

This was my first Imax experience and I couldn't have picked a better movie. It was excellent from beginning to end. Even a person who doesn't know about Star Trek would enjoy this movie.

I'm not a fan of science fiction, nor of Star Trek, but I saw all the original series when I was a teenager. I've seen virtually none since except one of the movies (with the whales). I wanted to see this one because of the reviews and because my husband is a fan. It was better than expected but I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Some very funny moments, and the acting was really fun to watch, though. We saw the IMAX version, which I don't thnk was necessary. The sound was about 30% too loud, too.

....to really enjoy this movie! This was an excellent blend of old and new Star Trek, plus it was just a well acted, scripted and directed movie in general. Seeing it in IMAX was unbelievable, to bad more people won't experience that! Go, enjoy, lose yourself in some future joy and leave the present unpleasantness behind for awhile!!!

Wow and Wow again, That was Great, right up in your face action, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and so did my Husband. In my opinion the only thing that would have made it better, would have been if you had filmed it in 3D..Will there be another Star Trek Movie? I hope so!!

Loved it. Kept me in my seat the whole time even though I had had a large coke! Great way to weave new storyline and actors with familiar characters and places. Blended the best of the new sci-fi movie special effects with a 30 year old show. Would like to hear why Shatner wasn't included in some way. I AM going to see it again.
