I'm looking forward to the follow-up. The character development was very light, seeming more an articulation of what we already understood. The film paid homage yet breathes a visceral quality into the exploits of the crew. It reminds you how superlative the legend of the original characters and the action in sci-fi can be. The action sequences were pretty and differentiate this Star Trek evolution from others in the franchise. The use of perspective modernizes the action. This plot lends to revisiting the Star Trek universe sandbox to see what will come out next. See this on the largest screen you can so you can catch the details.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
