In a time when violence, blood and gore and CGI rule the theaters, it was nice to see just a regular movie. This royal love story is so rare and touching that one can't help but fall in love with the characters. Loved Emily Blunt as the young Victoria and Rupert Friend was wonderful as Prince Edward.

There is nothing worse than a period drama that doesn't do justice to the period, either with the story, the clothes, sets and even hairstyles! Though accurately recreating history is often a matter of facts and perspective, this one did everything right and was one of the most beautiful films I've seen in a long time! All the actors are wonderful! Wish they'd make more films like this! If you haven't seen it, treat yourself, I'm going to again!!

My husband and I really enjoyed the movie. The roles were cast well, the costumes had such great detail and covered a long time period. Most movies like this typically drag on but this was lively, moving and creative well done. I only wish we could have more movies like this! Thank you!

This is one of those movies that I imagine will appeal strongly to a certain demographic. The viewer who values history and has a taste for cinematic efforts that deal in its less popularized stories will likely appreciate this lovely work. If you need frantic action or a rock soundtrack, this film probably won't do much for you. Personally, I adore these rare cinematic flowers that manage to push themselves up through the cracks in the parking lot landscape of contemporary life.

Having traveled to England, it was interesting to see Westminster Abbey,Buckingham Palace & Windsor Castle.The story of young Victoria & Albert was one I wish we had known more about prior to our visit to England. Seeing all the political intrigues was very realistic!

I actually saw this movie,twice in one week. I thought the beautifully fimled, the settings and costumes captured the period in a magical way.and what really compelled me was the chemistry between victoria and albert.the film though short was poignant,well acted ,beautifully photograped and memorable,especially at the end when it captured the true romance between victoria and her prince.

I am not a fan of period pieces, but this is a powerful film. It's got it all: political intrigue, personal/family drama, and a love story. The performances are excellent, it's a cinematographic dream, and it has an excellent score. It's well worth your movie $$$, and will likely receive 5 or 6 oscar nominations, perhaps more. You heard it here, first!!! :D

Emily Blunt will ever be remembered for her wondrful interpretation of the young Queen Victoria but this movie is more than that. It's a romantic and very realistic account of her marriage to her true love, Prince Albert, and their life together. It's a very romantic film with lavish sets, costumes and brilliant acting. Genuine eye-candy for royal watchers and those who enjoy films about the English Royals. The film is anything but slow and is highly entertaining even for those who don't usually enjoy historical films or period pieces. Blunt's acting is Oscar material and it will make you make forget that you are in a theatre. Victoria's two suitors are equally strong characters.

I wanted a move that would appeal to me because I like historical movies, particularly period pieces. My wife likes the typical chick flick movie. This was the perfect movie as it had something for everyone. Although it probably was more of a romance, it provided great insight into British Court intrigue.

Emily Blunt does a great job of portraying a young new queen in a dysfunctional family. I would have liked to see her rulings and results a little more. It was an interesting but sweet romance. It had a very dull seemingly unfinished ending. But all in all not a bad movie.

A regal re-telling of the life & circumstances surrounding a young Victoria - before she becomes the Queen of England - later her coronation - still following the young queen into her first few years of reign. This film is perfectly acted and it is visually scrumptious. The director does a majestic job of creating the atmosphere and environment of that era. Very nice cinematography and costuming. The story is believable, intriguing and keeps you entranced. Thoroughly enjoyable! For the full impact try and catch this film in as large of a theater as possible - but do see it - regardless! Hail to the queen!

LOVED The Young Victoria!!! Gorgeous period piece w/ interesting political & psychological intrigue ("gamesmanship") romance, drama - terrific actors & lovely costumes, sets, etc. We appreciated all of the historically accurate details (exception is Emily Blunt - a bit "too modern" and MUCH too tall as Victoria was barely 5' tall & Albert was almost a foot taller). Rupert Friend is yummy as the handsome Albert. Mark Strong - good job playing another bad guy. Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson, Jim Broadbent all terrific actors putting in solid performances & Harriet Walter playing a nice person for a change as Queen Adelaide. Pacing and photography good. We're hoping for a sequel or a PBS mini-series. Victoria = interesting subject!
