The only good things about this movie were 1) the message about conservation and 2) the cute little animal characters. Otherwise, this movie was so inane I couldn't wait for it to end. On the flip side, my eight year old loved it.
If you don't really like the Pirates of the Caribbean series, don't go see this. I happen to love the filming, characters, actors, etc. of these movies, so I enjoyed it. However, it was more contrived than the previous ones. Can't help it though - I just gotta have my Capt. Jack and friends. :)
This is a great movie for the entire family. As a matter of fact, it is the best Disney animated movie to come out for a while now. I love that the female lead is the hero. You go girl!
This is a great movie. Even though I think the seventh book should have been released in one film like the others, I am pleased that this first part was so well done. I did not like the sixth movie at all (lack of story flow and ruining the ending), so this has redeemed Yates. The most important part of the redemption is sticking to the book this time around. Additionally, the level of detail allowed by splitting the movie into two parts (I have to admit) only enhanced the production, especially for H.P. junkies. I found myself draw in at all points, even during slower sequences, and as always, the actors were superb. Well done! I can’t wait for part two, but then what will I do with no more new Harry Potter movies to look forward to? Sadly, it will be the end of an era.
My daughter and I LOVED this movie. As usual, the actors did an incredible job bringing Meyer's characters to life; it was well filmed; and I appreciated the super adaptation to film. It was especially nice to see more of the relationship between Bella and Edward and to get more of a feel for the depth of their feelings for each other. Well done, everyone!
This movie was really fun. My 13 year old daughter and I really enjoyed it. There is action, action, action and a little romance. If you are looking for an award winning movie, don't bother. If you want a few hours of escapism and watching Jake Gyllenhaal with his new set of musles, GO FOR IT.
This was a classic Ridley Scott film, but not as well made as his others. 1) The storyline did not flow as well as it could have. 2) The sound editing was inconsistent. 3) I usually like Ridley's signature shakycam action shots, but in this film it was used too much and was therefore less effective. In addition, some action seemed to be included just to fill time rather than to have real meaning. 4) The acting, while SUPERIOR, seemed hollow in a film that did not give characters the chance to develop so that you really cared about them.
This was a really cute movie, as all of the Shrek movies have been. My six year old loved it and I enjoyed it as well. Nice ending to the inventive Shrek series.
This movie is absolutely brilliant in every way - acting, direction, screen play, cinematography, set and costume design. I enjoyed every minute, completely loosing myself in this beautiful story. My husband loved it as well, so this is not just a movie for women. Go see it! You will not be disappointed.
I took my six year old to this movie, and he loved it. There are a few instances of humor that can be appreciated by both children and adults, but it is obviously geared toward young children. If you have kids, go for it. If not, I wouldn't bother. The good thing is that it is short enough to handle at any age.
