I enjoyed this version of Rent even more than the other 2 times I saw it on Broadway and definitely better than the movie. I wish more Broadway shows did showings like this. Even though it was a little pricey for a movie ticket, it was still way cheaper than a theatre ticket! This cast was absolutely amazing, BY FAR THE BEST!

Loved it! I've seen Rent many times and was sad that I couldn't get to New York for the final performance. This was a nice substitute. Great show. I hope they release this on video. It was worth every penny.

Our family enjoyed the movie, but missed any chance to see the show live. While the movie was certainly faithful, this version of the complete show let us spend more time getting to know the characters we love from the movie, and getting to meet some who didn't make the cut. As good as the movie was, now we can see what all the fuss was about!

I was pleasantly surprised with the way this was filmed and edited. You get the feel of being there live, with the added close ups and angles you don't get to see in person. The performances are amazing --- all top notch and emotionally moving. These actors really hit it right for such an important event. I loved it.

This production was incredible. A million times better than the film version, which was all that I'd seen of Rent prior -- now I understand what all the fuss is about. Takes you on an incredible journey with great characters and songs, and I recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in musicals. The filming of this stage production is good too -- there are some very nice close up shots. That said, I would have liked for them to pan out more to see the whole stage during the big group numbers. Other than that quibble, this is really a movie that you don't want to miss, and I sincerely hope that Sony eventually releases a DVD (along with a soundtrack!).

I have loved RENT for 12 years and seen it on stage more times than I can count. THIS experience was my absolute favorite BY FAR! There are so many details you can miss seeing it live even sitting in the front row. The closeups and the camera angles were brilliant and allowed the audience to pick up on so many pieces of the story they may have missed otherwise. I felt more a part of the story than I ever have. The only thing that would have made the experience any better is if I could one day experience it again on DVD. Please, please someone - make the DVD available to us diehard fans for all of posterity! I'll pay the $20 all over again and then some!

This movie was amazing. I loved the camera angles and it made it seem like we were there in the front seat at the actual play. I loved everything about it, the music, the real and raw emotion was just fantastic.

This filming of the Broadway play is excellent! I've seen the play in New York 9 times within the past two years, and seeing this movie gave me the same feeling as being in the Nederlander. I just wanted to clap and cheer on the characters during the play, and I also wanted to "MOOO", but I had to restrain myself. I liked the close-ups because it gave each character more emotion that is hard to see when you're in the audience at the Nederlander. However, I do feel that some of the play was lost with the zoom-ins because we lost what has happening in other parts of the stage. I did love it though, and I would love to buy it if it comes out to DVD. It's a well-done tribute to Jonathan Larson and his brilliant work.

I loved seeing Rent as it was performed live on the big screen! Should be done more often! You only get one perspective sitting in a stationary seat in an auditorium. I've seen Rent several times, and would not trade that energy and live experience for the world, but this was SUCH A TREAT! To actually see the slightest expressions that are wasted on row 20 seats! There should've been a big tribute at the end for Jonothan Larsen and the original cast, otherwise fantastic! Huge opportunity to get people who are reluctant to spend $80-$150, interested in theater! Should be done with every "original" cast though. What a wonderful way to imortalize their performances!

omfg it was AMAZING! besides the changes in the audio =[ it was absolutely fantastic! saw this cast live 4 times, and altogether 5 times on broadway, luved eht movie and i cant wait till this comes out on dvd! i noticed many things i didnt get a chance to notice when i was in the theater- many lines that i didnt catch in some ofthe songs like contact or christmas bells- saw it yesterday and going again today!! a-F*CKING -mazing!!!!

I was a bit hesitant about seeing this movie because I have seen the musical performed live on Broadway three times and I doubted that a filmed version could come close to the power that radiates from it. I was pleasantly surprised. With this movie you got to experience the magic of RENT both far away and up close, not to mention at angles that no one has ever seen. For someone who hasn't seen RENT live, this is the next best thing. It's amazing, it truly captures the spirit and power of RENT and you truly find yourself believing you are seeing it live. I'd recommend this movie to anyone, because RENT has the power to touch anyone no matter who they are.

I have seen RENT live 5 times; My first time I got to sit very very close to the stage. It's been over 10 yrs, that I've been able to see up close acting and this was a perfect opportunity. I cried at different parts because I saw Mimi's tears and Roger's emotion (to name a couple) that I couldn't see sitting up on the mezzanine. I would have enjoyed the sound to have been louder. Overall, I enjoyed it. I don't think that anyone can complain about this opportunity to watch RENT this way. I love RENT no matter how it's given to me. Thank you to the Larson family!

The cast was really good and as many times as I have seen the stage version, I noticed new things b/c of some of the shots the camera was able to do. However, the camera was so focused on close up shots of faces, that I felt a lot of things were lost as well. It's a stage showing, it's made for you to see everything on stage. And while some close-ups were great so you could catch things, that's not the only thing that a camera can do. And you don't have to be THAT close up. It actually took away some of the magic for me. I could tell when one actress had a cough drop and you could see people's teeth fillings. Quite unnecessary.

I've seen the show live many times as well as the movie. This was by far the most enjoyable of them all. The way it was shot gave the viewer a first row experience. It made such a difference to see the performers up close and so connected. It was a wonderful movie going experience.

Having seen the play several times, I was curious how it would be filmed. I was impressed that the camera was up close and personal, not from the audience's viewpoint. I've seen the show several times on Broadway and tours. I feel like I know the show backwards and forwards, but the great camera work gave me a look at the show I've never seen before. Thank you for the amazing close-ups that allowed the audience to REALLY see the emotion on the actors' faces.

The last performance of RENT was by far the most emotional in its history. I have never been more moved by any production on Broadway, and the chance to see the final performance with the return of the original cast truly touched me. I was quietly sobbing for the whole two and a half hours! Not out of sadness, but simply because of the story's depictioin of the triumph of the human spirit through love and friendship. I would not only recommend this movie, I would force as many people as I could to see it. If you can't appreciate RENT, you have no soul.

The 2005 movie and live performances do not compare to this. It was a completely different experience. You are so close to the performers and see the little things that are missed in the audience of a live performance. The tears on the actor's faces, their anguise and their joy are so much more evident due to the fact that you feel as though you are on the stage with them. I have never cried while watching the movie or seeing the live performance though I have gotten choked up. But watching this, the tears were streaming down my face.

I hope this movie comes out on DVD. I can't wait to own this movie and watch it over and over again.
I wish that more Broadway shows would be filmed so that we in the rest of America can see classic and fantastic shows in the comfort of our local theatre.
A little too pricey! Come down on the price!

I have seen Rent on Broadway 7 times, but have never seen it close up. The filming allowed you to see the emotions and facial expressions of the actors and made it that much more amazing. I would see it again and again if I could! It makes me so sad to think that I won't be able to see it on Broadway anymore =(
