Being a 'Renthead', I loved the opportunity of being able to see the last Broadway performance of Rent. The production is superb and always gives me goosebumps during the intro. I would have preferred fewer closeups; more shots from the audience's vantage point but at least I got to see this performance. I hope the DVD will be available soon.

I have seen Rent on the stage 3 times, saw the movie 3 times the first weekend, and saw this screen performance 2 times. I thought that this was an amazing way to view it. I loved the close ups and the details it allowed you to see that may be missed when seeing it on stage. I sincerely hope this is released on dvd since it can no longer be seen any other way. This by far beat the hollywood version... hands down. As others have stated, I do wish that theywould have filmed the whole stage more but it was still an amazing production.

Having seen the broadway production of RENT 22 times on broadway, words cannot express my disapointment with the Christopher Columbus obortion of a RENT movie. This (obviously) is the RENT movie that should have been released originally. A brilliant cast, most of whom were some of my favorites from B-Way. Will Chase remains one of my favorite Rogers ever. And Tracy Thoms, one of the bright spots of the Chris Columbus RENT, shines here on stage. It was filmed in excellent style and really brought the emotion to the audiance in the theatre. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to see what RENT is truly about. I cannot wait for this to be release on DVD/Blu-Ray. God I can't wait! Viva la vi Bohem!

I loved how Sony can bring the theatre to those of us who can't afford to travel to New York and buy expensive tickets. RENT was amazing, and the way it was filmed help us emotionally connect to what the characters where feeling. I think Sony should do more projects like this, to help spread the love for theatre all around the country. Many people don't understand how amazing theatre is because they can't afford to experience it. Great Moive!!! THANK YOU SONY!!

I had my doubts about going to see this because I hated the movie version with the original cast, but I LOVE IT!!!! This puts the movie version to shame. The acting was superior. The cast was excellent especially Will Chase, Renee Goldsberry, I love the chemistry. It was like being there in the theater but up close and personal. The close ups, Renee as Mimi actually crying. WOW!!! The guy who played Angel, he needs to be nominate for a Tony. Whoever thought of this concept, I hope it is here to stay and RENT will not be the only shows to do this. I would have love to have seen Dreamgirls and Cats on film. GO SEE!!!

The cinema experience of Rent filmed live on broadway was awesome! Having seen Rent at the Nederlander theatre in New York and now in the movie theatre, we were able to enjoy the whole experience all over again. It was almost better than seeing it live. We can't wait for the film to come out on DVD!

While this will never do justice to the power and raw emotion felt from seeing the show live -- it is amazing to be able to capture even a portion of it, on film. I will agree with some of the others' comments about the camera needing to back up at times...but otherwise, it was incredible. I'm still going to recommend that you see it person first, but if you absolutely can't, then this is the next best thing. :)

When Columbus' attempt came out, I was disappointed since he cut out a few key songs and moments in the production. Seeing the entire production while on stage and all stage movements is a treat for the eyes...I would like to see this over and over.

I've been a fan of Rent since its beginning and this was the best thing that could've happened on its way out. I'm sad that it's over, but I've been very lucky in the number of times I've gotten to see the broadway production.
I highly recommend this film to anyone who liked the broadway show, movie, a song or one of the actors.

I am so thankful that I was able to experience Rent's final performance. The transition from stage to screen was beautifully done. I felt like I was up on the stage with them, and I was able to see things that I never picked up when I saw Rent live. My only wish is that they release this performance on DVD so I can experience it again.

I have seen and love the movie version and really love this version as well. It seemed more intimate with camera Close Ups at certain times of the production, which you would not really get if you were watching a live performance. I would so watch this movie again and I plan on attending a performance when RENT comes to LA in March 2009.

After being a RENT fan for several years, I finally got to see it live on August 2, 2008. That cast is also in "Live on Broadway," so I felt right at home as I watched it. I also like the 2005 movie, but nothing on Earth beats the experience of seeing RENT on Broadway. The close camera angles in "Live on Broadway" were a bit frustrating at times, but I liked the fact that they offered a different perspective. I really wish they would release this on DVD because RENT has had such a huge impact on so many people. Plus, it would be an awesome tribute to Jonathan Larson.

I appreciate the close-ups, though I wanted them to pull back and show us the entire stage more often. That's my only gripe. It should play well on the small screen in our living rooms, though, and that’s what this is about.

If the next generation of entertainment is anything like Sony's Hot Ticket and their presentation of "Rent" in HD, sign me up!
Although I never saw "Rent" on stage, I did enjoy the movie and the original cast recording and soundtrack even more so.
This most recent experience, however, was nothing short of awesome. The intimacy of the cameras and camera angles with an extremely talented group of actors only added to the overall experience.
While I doubt I'd see every production that is presented this way, be it a stage performance, concert, etc., as long as the industry maintains this kind of quality while taking the budget-minded consumer into consideration, this is the next generation of entertainment. Thank you, Sony!

this was a great way for those of us who couldn't make it out to the last show to enjoy the finale of the play that has such an important role in many of our lives. Watching this movie was a completly different and rewarding experience then seeing the play. I could see the actors sweat and tears and it made the show that much more moving for me. I would reccommend this movie to ANYONE who would want to have the RENT experience over the hollywood version. I really hope this is released on d.v.d. I only wish the camera man panned out more since the people in the background play such an important role in the show, all in all however this was an amazing experience.

I loved RENT on Broadway and loved the movie. I thought this was fantastic, all the performances were great. If you were never able to see it live then this is as close as you can get. I liked the close ups, they all had such emotion and Mimi had a little bit of a hard edge but she's supposed to. The whole audience was having a great time! Check it out if you can. I loved it!! I've seen it several times both in NYC and the touring show, so seeing the close-ups and different camera angles added a new dimension and was a real treat.
The sound was flawless and the HD film really brought it to life.
I REALLY hope the release it on Blu-Ray soon!!

This was the BEST filmed Stage Musical I've seen. The closeups & angle shots were terrific. It was great to see the expressions & emotions of this terrific cast upclose. However, I would have loved to have seen a few more full stage shots. The sound & picture quality were amazing. It was as close to seeing it live on stage as one can experience in a Movie Theater. The director & film editors did a fantastic job. I've enjoyed RENT on stage 3 times. And also loved the movie version of RENT. But this was extraordinary! I hope this filmed version comes out on DVD. I'd definately buy it. I'd LOVE to see filmed versions of some other shows in the future. WICKED, SPRING AWAKENING & IN THE HEIGHTS come to mind.

and it was worth the wait! I am a RENThead having seen many versions (over 30+ in NYC alone) . I am so excited that "they" filmed the Broadway version. It is wonderful that those who could not see it in a theater can now see it. Another way for Jonathan's dream to come true. I would reccomend this to Everyone! Not only could I comprehend the stage and the plot so much more, but the actors were fantastic. Not as amazing as the original, but still. I've seen RENT on Broadway before and didn't cry as hard as I did during the movie. That could be because I now know it's over, but the actors were fantastic. Adam Kantor was fantastic and was it just me, or did he sound like Anthony Rapp at times? I know I keep saying fantastic, but Will Chase was as well. My favorite Roger so far, even beats Adam Pascal. I was a little nervous that they were making RENT into a movie with the final performance, because the actors weren't as substantial as the original cast, but now I can't wait for the DVD to come out. Viva La Vie Boheme.

I have loved RENT for years. I took my daughter, (fellow Rent-head), and my mom who was a newbie. We all loved it. My daughter & I were just in NY in May and saw it, but seeing it this way was made me feel like I was more apart of the show then any other time that I have seen it. You could actually see the actors facial expressions, details that you don't see when you are in the audience, and it was almost like I was on stage with them. I would wait in line to purchase the DVD.

When I heard this was going to be in theaters, I had no doubt that I was going to be there. It was great for all of those that wished they could make the final performance, but couldn't make it to New York. Being able to see the final performance was great. Loved it the first time I saw it on Broadway and it was the best way to spend my Birthday afternoon. The final cast was great and it was awesome to see some of the original cast at the end. I just hope they release this on DVD! The movie did not do this musical justice! Can't wait for the tour to come to town in March!!!

I LOVED this screening. camera angles were cool, acting was great. i have seen the show 12 times on broadway and 2 times on tour...I have seen it with some original cast members and i have seen it with tv reality stars and broadway debuts and understudies- AND every time i get that same feeling and glow and connection to the lyrics and beautiful Larson masterpiece! The movie did everyones hard work over all the years alot of juctice and i can't wait to buy the DVD!

This was a brilliant idea that really captured the intensity and excitement that the broadway show delivers!! It was AMAZING and I would definitley recommend it to any RENThead as well as anyone who was not fortunate enough to see it live!! They need to release a DVD!!!!!!!

I have seen the play on Broadway 2x and the tour when it came to Phoenix, but this is like seeing it for the first time. The angles and closeups that were used added a whole new dimension for me and I thought that this particular line-up of cast was excellent. It was very upsetting to learn that the show would be closing before I had a chance to go back to NY (recently moved from NYC) to see it again, so this was a great opportunity to say Goodbye My Love!
