I predict another Oscar nomination for Meryl. The movie was thoroughly enjoyable and didn't plod along for a drama of it's length.
The parallel stories of Julie and her huband with Julia and her husband was very well done. This movie touched my wife and I deeply. It's a good date movie for us married folk.
The theatre erupted in applause at the end of the movie which is very rare.

This is a fairly good movie, sort of a comedy and Meryl was very good but then she always is. We learn alot about Julia which was very interesting, I really expected more but I did like it. My 3 favorite movies are 1 action (this was not) 2, comedy (this was alittle) and 3, love story (this was alittle,,very little) but i still liked it.

I really enjoyed this movie! It made me want to take cooking classes and learn more about Julia Child. Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were fantastic. I have to agree with one reviewer I heard on TV who said they could have skipped the Julie storyline altogether. The Julia story and characters made the movie and left me wanting more of them.

I thought the movie was charming, well cast. Without Meryl Streep and Amy Adams it would not have been nearly as good. I thought it ended rather abruptly. I expected to see about Julia Child getting on TV. I remember seeing her but did not know how it cam about. I also didn't think they had a blog in 2002 but I may be wrong.

I throughly enjoyed the movie. Actors were great. Laughed, cried but that's real life! Found out a lot about Julia that I didn't know. (6' 2"!, very tall) It was a great love story in both cases! My husband only liked it. I would recommend to my female friends. Not a men's movie unless they are interested in cooking.

This movie is fantastic and is one of those rare movies to which you can take your children, especially teenagers. Any one who follows Julia Childs or owns her Mastering the Art of French Cooking cookbook will love this picture. I laughed throughout the movie and both actors give excellent performances. Meryl Streep is positively awesome. She always has a totally out of character role and that's acting. At times you really feel like your watching Julia Child. Amy Adams is so cute and loveable. This film is lots of fun. Put it on your list to see! Also it's based on 2 true stories which I think makes it even more interesting.

Went to this movie with my mom so she wouldn't have to go alone. I tried to think of it as a girl bonding thing since I had no real desire to see it. What a wonderful surprise. I loved this film, it was funny and sometimes a little sad and overall inspiring. Two women who faced with lemons made lemonade!!! and changed the world around them just by following their bliss!!! Oh my mom loved it too:)

Who cares what the so called experts say! The movie and the actors were perfect for the parts they played. The movie had several humorous moments where a loud outburst was more appropriate than a lowly smirk. I came to watch this movie with my wife, and was glad i did. To my surprize, the theatre was somewhat packed. I say the word of mouth is worth much more than someone who gets paid to be themselves and criticize.

The premise, albeit true, borders on take me to the nuthouse straight jacket insanity; Young Julie will cook Julia Childs' 500+ recipes in 365 days and blog about it to the world. With a dumb premise, comes a dumb movie. The treatment is rather superficial and I learned virtually nothing about what made Julia Child tick as a person. Meryl Streep drones on for 2 hours with a Julia Child impersonation. The movie did seem to flow well for the first hour but then I began looking at my watch for this mess to be wiped up.

A good friend of mine referred to Julie & Julia as the "best foodie movie ever!" Maybe it is, but it's also just a great movie in and of itself. Meryl is superb in her role, really giving us a feel for Julias' lust for cooking and love for her husband. I managed to talk my BF into going (he's a pretty good cook in his own right) and he enjoyed it as much as I did! Julias' comment over hot cannoli noodles is one of the funniest lines in a movie in a long time!! It (the movie, not the funny line) inspired me to pick up her memoir over the weekend. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone.

This was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. No bedroom scenes, violence or less than imaginative language. Truly just a good story with some of the best actors. Go see it & own it when it comes out on DVD!

This movie help my interest and was thoroughly enjoyable. Great acting by Meryl Streep captured the essence of Julia Child and added some unexpected insight into her true personality. Streep once again triumphs! She joyfully carries us through Julia Child's evolution into "The French Chef". I really loved watching her and Paul (the masterful Stanley Tucci) live, love, and eat their way through what we all know was a partnership of pure love and fun. As the movie progressed, I grew to hate Amy Adam's Julie. She was a whiny person, having "melt downs" over every minor problem. Whereas Julia motored her way over many obstacles, including McCarthy,with cheer and personal power. Julia never "melted down", with one, rather understandable exception. This movie would have been five stars had Nora Ephron just made it a biopic of Julia. Here's a request: Please do an edited version that cuts Julie out entirely.

Above all, I'd like to say--this movie made me hungry! It also inspired me to finish more things in life and cook more.
Amy Adams is completely realistic and wonderful and Meryl Streep makes me want to give her a big hug and delve into all Julia Child archives.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! As someone who grew up watching "The French Chef", I can really appreciate how Meryl Streep got the mannerisms, humor and speech of Julia Child down. Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. France and Queens. joyful, delightful, moving and dripping with atmosphere. My husband and I saw this on our recent 28th wedding anniversary. Have not enjoyed a movie so much for a very long time. Characters came off a real people, not caricatures. Meryl, as always, is a wonder. Excellent cast, perfect script.

We knew we would probably enjoy this, but had no idea how amazingly on Meryl Streep would play Julia Child. The depth of the story was truly amazing, showing many aspects of that period of time in Europe, and in American politics. The men in the audiance enjoyed the movie as much as the women! Put it on your list of must sees.

A rare jewel of a movie. Not only equipped with the standards of laugh and cry, it portrays a quality of relationship that is unheard of from Hollywood this day and age. The fact that it's based on a true story only bolsters the credibility. Absolutely loved it!

Laugh, smile and be hungry. A true love story triangle between husbands, wives and food. It is refreshing to see people who enjoy food yet lived into their 90"s. A touch of politics, a lot of laughter, and a great double story that is a treat because it actually happened. Do yourselves a favor go see it then buy it for your collection it is great.

My friend and I loved Julie & Julia - Meryl Streep's characterization of Julia Child was dead on. She brought Julia's joie de vivre to the screen and her joy in cooking and eating (and BUTTER)! Amy Adams as Julie is a delight - fresh, funny, sympathetic, and in her way, as determined as Julia. I recommend it wholeheartedly!
