Streep once again triumphs! She joyfully carries us through Julia Child's evolution into "The French Chef". I really loved watching her and Paul (the masterful Stanley Tucci) live, love, and eat their way through what we all know was a partnership of pure love and fun. As the movie progressed, I grew to hate Amy Adam's Julie. She was a whiny person, having "melt downs" over every minor problem. Whereas Julia motored her way over many obstacles, including McCarthy, with cheer and personal power. Julia never "melted down", with one, rather understandable exception. This movie would have been five stars had Nora Ephron just made it a biopic of Julia. Here's a request: Please do an edited version that cuts Julie out entirely.
