We see about 15 movies per year and this is the most heart-lifting movie I've seen in many years. It just shows that you don't need frenetic action and deafening noise to make a good film. All 4 of the main actors were just perfect!

A simply wonderful movie. Meryl Streep is Julia Child. The quivering voice, the manic love of cooking and her trademark stoicism in the face of culinary mishaps are so well done that we think Julia is back with us treating us to another memorable feast. Her struggles to publish her cookbook in the face of stodgy publishers are focused on as she triumphs in the face of adversity. With this backdrop, a modern women Julie (played perfectly by Amy Adams) has her own mountains to climb and decides to write a blog as she cooks all of Julia’s recipes in 365 days. Her blog catches on and she becomes an internet sensation. The back and forth stories of these two women seeking a special place in the world is charming and great fun to watch.

I kind of had an idea this was going to be a superb movie. Great cast and what a wonderful telling of two true stories. The movie was a bit over 2 hours but it was well worth it and you wish it went on. The audience laughs out loud at the exact same moments and it is so much fun to see the story of these two women. If you love food, cooking and want to have a grand time go see this film. It was fabulous. Meryl does it again-she is wonderful.

Absolutely charming and delightful performances across the board. If you ever saw Julia Child on TV you will find this movie hysterically funny. Even children who do not know anything about her were laughing out loud. Streep will certainly get another academy award nomination for this.

We thoroughly enjoyed this movie, beginning to end, like a good Julia-cooked French meal. All ingredients are fresh (even the eggs), from casting to writing to acting to art direction. Meryl Streep wins you over in the 1st 10 seconds and never lets you down. I found myself wishing this movie was 4 hours long. This movie was the best movie I have seen in a very long time. As an avid cook, and owner of the Art of French Cooking I could totally relate. Julia Child was always one of my favorites. Julie played an extremely good part and you could totally empathize with her. You felt like you were there with her. All the way around a very enjoyable film that touched all of the senses.

An enjoyable movie, Julie & Julia did leave some loose ends. Two were so obvious. As Julie's blog developed "fans," she received food gifts. Clever that they found her, but then it was dropped. As this was fairly early in the blogging process, I expected the food gifts could become a problem -- boxes piling up in the apartment, giving away bottles of sauces at work -- offering a bit in the way of light comedy to a challenging situation, but no. Nothing more happened. Near the end, the comment Julia Child actually made about Julie's blog was negatively vague with no real follow-up. Odd there was no clarification or closure to that conflict. The final loose end would be if Streep didn't recieve an Oscar for her performance! Julia lives!!

I loved every bit of this movie. If you love food, cooking, eating, and love stories, this is the movie for you. All of my senses were touched by this movie. All of the performances were good, but Meryl Streep was outstanding. I left wanting to know more about both stories. Just watch, both of those book purchases will soar!

We loved this movie. The love affairs Julia has with Paul and with French cooking are lovely to behold. The Julie parts of the movie are solid, but it really shines when Tucci and Streep are on screen together. Linda Emond also give a funny and well done performance as Child's collaborator and friend. I agree with everyone's opinion that Meryl gave a spot on performance and the parts of the movie that focus on J. Chlids story were entertaining. I have watched a biography of Julia Child and read her book so there were no surprises. I also listened to the Julie Blog on Audiocassette and I remembered it being funny. the Amy Adams character is only mildly amusing and I usually like her. Took my two daughters, ages 25 and 18, for a girls night out at the movies and it was great! Streep really nailed her character, and while Amy Adams did well with Julie, it was Julia who we really wanted to know more about. Super for my younger girl who has dreams of being a novelist as well as the older one, who is learning to cook. Lots of fun, but also lots of thought.. A great evening with my girls, plus more fun looking at my own first edition of "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" when we returned home.

I absolutely loved this movie. "Julie & Julia" is "Delightful, Witty, Soulful and Stirring". It's scary how well Meryl Streep played Julia Child. "Julie & Julia" is about two true stories, set in 1940's Paris and Brooklyn New York in 2002.

This most anticipated summer movie is fun and not just for chicks! Not only do you get a glimpse of the " icon" Julia Childs but some interesting food cooking tips as well. It is a welcome relief to walk out of a movie with a content feeling. It is too bad that there was not more of Julia but then the movie IS about Julie's blog!
