I really enjoyed Slumdog Millionaire. I went in only knowing it was a "rags to riches" story revolving around the India version of the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" TV show, which sounded a little trite. The story ended up being a very powerful story, and in the early part highlighted the amazing squalor the poor in India lived in. The violence and cruelty were also pretty extreme. The last 25% of the movie turned into a little bit of a predictable soap opera on the order that you might see in a TV drama, but the first 75% definitely made up for that with its intensity and raw portrayal.

The idea of game show questions being used to reveal aspects of someone's life is very clever. Despite the rawness of some parts of the movie, there are also many scenes that make you laugh. The scenes of poverty are stark and may be disproportionate, but it certainly makes you think. Definately worthy of an oscar nomination.

this movie was amazing, it showed the heartwrenching realities of the real lives of people we never see. it was an emotionally intense movie but the director and the actors did an amazing job capuring the heart of this story. After the nomination of Slumdog Millionaire, one thing appears to be very clear that most of the prominent names accross the globe are making big money out of indian poverty.
They are dipicting the poverty in a manner that has nothing to do with real life conditions of poor and downtrodden.
Poverty is being sold internationally by prominent personality and the role of poor is being portrayed by a guy who has never experienced poverty in his entire life so how can we expect these people will ever understand the worst and inhuman conditions of poor and downtrodden.

This movie was outstanding! The fact that these little known and in many cases first time actors could pull off telling this story was impressive. The movie grabbed you from the very first scene. I am glad to see brilliant stories about people of color emerging to the forefront of cinema. Very creative in its pace. Requires the viewer to stay alert to tie all sagas together. Very impressive in the actor's skills and talents. A feel good movie that allows you to see another side of the world and yet feel that you are a part of the movie. Don't leave without cheering on the ending credits. Wow - a special moment. Super.

Slumdog Millionaire is one of the best movies that's come along in a long time; the storyline is original and creative. The movie is engaging; hearbreaking while inspiring. From the child actors to the young adults, the acting is superb and the music is just wonderful! This is definitely Best Picture of the Year caliber!!!

Rarely can I sit through a movie these days without having to look at my watch or think about going to the bathroom. I was very much captivated by this moving. Using "Who Wants to be Millionaire" as the backdrop for telling this tragedy/love story of a "slumdog" in India was quite creative. I went into this movie expecting some form of Bollywood movie with dancing happening out of nowhere and in return I got a movie that tugged a tear from my eye and a smile from my lips.
