I was a little hesitant about seeing this movie, but I was pleasantly surprised. This movie was a wonderful "new" start to a magnificent franchise. Abrams pays homage to the Gene's original vision while expanding it for a new 21st century generation. I'm already ready to see Star Trek 2.
Rarely can I sit through a movie these days without having to look at my watch or think about going to the bathroom. I was very much captivated by this moving. Using "Who Wants to be Millionaire" as the backdrop for telling this tragedy/love story of a "slumdog" in India was quite creative. I went into this movie expecting some form of Bollywood movie with dancing happening out of nowhere and in return I got a movie that tugged a tear from my eye and a smile from my lips.
I am an avid comic book reader and Iron Man has never been at the top of my list nor has it been at the bottom. Because of that, I was hesitant when I first heard that this was the next movie in line for Marvel. The previews started to hook me in, but I wondered if what I saw in them would be all that was great in the movie. I was wrong. This was an excellent movie with a well written script, great actors, and well paced direction. This is the way all comic book adaptation movies should be handled. I was worried about Jon Favreau because his movies are hits and misses, but he hit this one out of the ballpark. Whether you know anything about this character or the Marvel Universse, you will love this movie. P.S. For you Marvel fans, you should stick around and watch the movie until the credits end. It's a nice hint of what's to come.
