To be perfectly honest, they did well with keeping to the story. The flashbacks were a welcome surprise.
Edward was handsome and charismatic, but he was also dorky. His originial reaction to her scent resembled the sensation to vomit rather than to kill her with a raging hunger.
The chemistry between Edward and Bella was great. The bitter animosity between Jacob and Edward at the end of the movie was premature, but it gives a good look at what's in store.
The only part that really started to bother me was that there were way too many closeups. If you go into this movie with an open mind and you don't expect to see the 500+ pages that you've likely read a half dozen times...you may just enjoy the movie.

AMAZING! I loved the books so I was a bit anxious about how well the movie adaptation was going to turn out. I didn't have anything to worry about. Twilight was very well adapted for the screen. I think people who haven't read the books will like the movie as well. It was funny, romantic, action filled...everything one could ask for in a good movie.

The movie had bad acting and makeup. The movie moves to quick threw scenes. I also think the movie was made to be a comedy rather than a love story. WTF, Jasper look like a crazy guy high off of meth. Very Disappointing i didn't go for a good laugh. :(

Honestly, I had very low expectations for the movie before teh release because I thought that they were going to completely change the movie from the book like it has happened with Harry Potter. To my surprise though, not as much was cut out. Yes certain scenes, but the dialogue was still in there somewhere.
Overall, it was one of the bst movies I've ever seen. I definately blew my mind away and deserves five thousand thumbs up! :D

I watched the midnight viewing with a group of my 30-something friends. All of us had read the books. The movie itself was good, but like one reviewer pointed out it was fast. If you have not read the books, I think you might go away a bit confused. If you do not want to read the books, check out the website for the movie for some insider looks. The one thing I am concerned about is that because the movie moved so fast, if a movie is made based on the second novel, they will not understand why Bella becomes so depressed. You don't get the strong connection that Edward and Bella make from watching the movie, only the book did that. Overall I would say check it out.

While my daughter and all her friends liked the movie, I found it a little boring. It was slow to start and finally started getting interesting the last 1/2 hour. The people who have read the books seem to like the movie more than those who haven't read the books. Maybe, I'll read the books and get another perspective. I am a big Buffy (TV) fan, and also liked "Interview with a Vampire." I felt this movie was made for the small screen, not the big screen and reminded me alot of Buffy without the humor. The filming was very artistic though and almost seemed liked a music video. We went to the midnight show and it was fun to go with a bunch of teenagers and young adults and see all their reactions.

Disapppointed. The movie would have made no sense if you had not read the book. The tension between Bella and Edward raised laughter from the fellow readers, but i don't believe it will be a good experience for those who haven't read it. I also feel they rushed through it, almost ruined (in my mind) certain scenes.

This movie was so much better than I thought it would be. I am a huge fan of the Twilight saga and was a little nervous about the movie. I was pleasantly surprised with it though. Of course there were some parts of the book that I would have loved to have seen in the movie that were left out, but understandably they couldn't fit the entire book into a two hour movie. Don't worry though, they kept the movie pretty true to the book! I was particularly impressed with Robert Pattinson. He made a very convincing Edward. If you like the books, I think you will definitely enjoy the movie!

I thought the movie was good but i expected it to be a lot better than it was. in the movie they skip a lot of crucial things that happed in the book that they really should of took time to add in, yeah the movie might of been 3 hours or more but i still would of paid to go see it. so basically the only bad thing i can say about this movie is that they didn't stick to how it was in the book and that they added scenes to the movie that i think they shouldn't of.

Went to the midnight premiere...read all 4 books and was deeply disappointed. The acting was terrible, I was laughing at parts that shouldnt have been laughed at. The best thing in the movie was Charlie! Kristin made for a boring Bella and Edward, while cute...was comical in his intensity. The last 30 mins was good though....the scene in the Ballet studio was the only part worth watching.

I have to say that I am soooo excited about this movie. I have already seen this movie twice and I love it!!!! I'm going again this weekend and during the week. I absolutely love these books I have been reading each one over and over again. I got a friend of mine interested in the books. Twilight was a VERY good movie! i am absolutely in LOVE with Edward,Bella,Jacob,and Alice and ,well the whole cast!! They did an excellent job! I recommend to go and see the movie....but yes you might want to read the book first because sometimes you wont get what is happening....!! Well....at the beginning the movie went a little fast and choppy .....but the middle and end was soo cool! I could imagine everything like it was in the book. Like i always thought that's what it looked like .....it was cool. It is worth the $10.....my mom and I and my sister went at midnight and was awake through the whole thing. It is a cute little vampire love story that everyone needs to watch!!Stephanie Meyers has a great imagination!

As a person who has read all of the Twlight series more then one time, i would say that this movie was absolutly amazing. Yes of corse it did not have EVERY SINGLE aspect of the book in it, because if that were to happen, it would be 4 of 5 hours long, and for a non-book reader that would not appeal to them! i thought all the actors were perfect, especially Jackson Rathbone as Jasper! and of corse the amazing EDWARD. This movie was totally worth the hype and i recomend it to everyone!

This movie was awesome! i went to the midnight premiere and it was really good. It was a romantic comedy/action film. It jumps from scene to scene, so you need to keep up, and you will be laughing the whole time, from beginning to ending. The guy who played Edward was intoxicating!!! The actress who played Bella could have been better. Also theres a little surprise in the middle so keep an eye out for a special person in a certain scene.

The acting was better than expected. The actors, especially Rob Pattinson, really did a good job with their facial expressions. They seem to have taken a lot from the book and incorporated it into their portrayal of the characters.
The story did a good job of fitting everything in while staying on-point, though the plot moved quite fast. Nothing of major importance was greatly altered.
One critique would have to be the editing. I feel like some scenes were cut wrong. The cinematography was decent, not the best, but considering the budget and the scale of the film, it worked.
People who have not read the books can follow the movie without needing to read it, and people who have read the books aren;t left disappointed.

This movie is spectacular! It stays SOOO close to the book!! If you havent read the book you may find it a bit harder to follow. But for those of you have read the book, i dont think you'll be dissapointed!! The cast was PERFECT!!!!!! They couldnt of found a better one! The only thing that was slightly dissapointing was the meadow scene. It wasnt very long, and all the dialogue takes place OUTSIDE of the meadow! Where in the book it takes place IN the meadow. But Edwards sparkle effect was incredible!!! Overall a definite must see!!!

Ok...were to start...overall it was such a good movie! For it being a two hour film and trying to fit all of the important parts into a two hour film, I thought it was excellent. I do have to agree that it would be recommended to read Twilight the book, first, because it has some inside jokes that you will only get if you read the book, and not just necessarily jokes but other important details that are crucial to the whole story. The actors did an awesome job of portraying their characters, it was very funny, it is defenetly worth watching!

I went to the midnight showing last night and the theater was packed. The movie was amazing, considering I had not read the books and am used to the old school rules of vampires (sunlight kills them, sleep in coffins. etc). It was funnier than I expected but still had that staying power. I can't really think of any downside to the movie, and can't wait until the next three come out.

Movie doesn't do the book justice, flat-out. The entire time I was watching it, I had my hand over my forehead saying to myself, "This is so bad." The acting is terrible. Sure, they're beautiful people, but the best actor in the entire movie is Bella's father, Charlie! I thought this movie was pathetic. I had been anticipating it for so long cause I'm such a huge fan of the Twilight saga. I regret to say that the movie was a disappointment for me.

Luckily, I was smart enough not to expect much since most book-based movies aren't great. This movie was horribly cheesy, choppy, and missing a lot of good scenes. It had many awkward/funny moments but that sort of bugs considering the book is romantic/dramatic. The background music made it seem like a bad ‘90s movie. I wouldn’t recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't read the book, if people watch this wanting to know what all the fuss is about, us book fans will look like lunatics. Basically, if you're going to watch this movie, don't expect much (ESPECIALLY from the meadow scene, you will be sorely disappointed).

Okay, Kristen Stuart is awful. can you say over-acting? ugh. someone of the characters that are brought to like from the book don't look exactly right, but generally it's okay. The movie jumps around and i expected a big change from the book, which i got. mainly because so much juiciness had to be squeezed out to make a 2 hour movie. people who have not read or are not as serious about the book may enjoy it more, but some of the jokes or lines are not as special without some background. There is definitely enough eye candy to last a life time, and someone of the cinematography shots were indeed pretty captivating. overall, it is a departure from the book, but as a movie, it was good.

My son ( age 11) and I endeavored a day of being overly tired to watch the 12am showing. We both thought the characters were intense (in a good way) and that it kept our attention. He is more into vampires than love stories but he rated it 5 stars. I would love to see a follow-up. It made me want to read the book...and that's always a good thing
