It's all about expectations

Luckily, I was smart enough not to expect much since most book-based movies aren't great. This movie was horribly cheesy, choppy, and missing a lot of good scenes. It had many awkward/funny moments but that sort of bugs considering the book is romantic/dramatic. The background music made it seem like a bad ‘90s movie. I wouldn’t recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't read the book, if people watch this wanting to know what all the fuss is about, us book fans will look like lunatics. Basically, if you're going to watch this movie, don't expect much (ESPECIALLY from the meadow scene, you will be sorely disappointed).
No, I do not recommend this movie.
