We took our 4 Grandkids, ages 1 to 9, to see Shrek 3D. It was fun watching the kids reach out to grab something coming towards them. We enjoyed it, it was our first 3D experience. Would recommend it.

but not great. I'd seen reviews that said this movie was as good as the first Shrek. Not so. It wasn't a bad movie, but it didn't live up to its potential by any means. Also, witches, ogres and the evil little guy - too much for the little ones? Unlike many others, I didn't have a problem with the 3D effects. They were better than some recent films I'd seen. Nothing exciting, but definitely 3D. It was good to see Fiona with a bit of attitude and Puss made for a few giggles. The Shrek and Donkey characters got short shrift on this one. With Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy, there should have been much more to laugh about. Perhaps it was the melancholy storyline, but the writers wasted a chance to leave us wanting more of these characters.

I saw this movie twice (first time didn't pay myselft... second I paid due to a lost bet) The movie was OK.. don't think it was worth the price... the 3D effects were barely noticable. The story it self was a good one but it could have used a little move funny sceens in it.
All in all its a movie that you can wait for it to go on sale at stores.. or maybe the $1 theater

As usual a good movie that has so much potential to be really funny falls short. It was a great story and beautifully done, but the laughs were far and few between. A movie like Shrek should always go for the highest level of excitement and fun factor and this didn't hit it. I was falling asleep after the first 45 minutes. Also the 3D sucked. I'm really sick of these movies saying they are in 3D and the best effects are the title in the beginning and the credits at the end. Save the couple of bucks and see it the old school way or wait for video.

My kids and I really enjoyed this movie. I thought it would be to kiddie for them to watch, but it was really good. It was full of laughs and a very good plot. And being in 3D makes it even better.

Great look and feel (as usual), but surprisingly not funny. A good story, just not a funny one. 3D version not very spectactual, but I guess everything cannot be "Avatar." My 11-yr old seemed to like it.

I've seen all the Shrek movies and this one was wonderful just like all the others. I love them and would keep seeing them as long as they make the movies. I hope this really isn't the last one.

Took my 6 year old and she really enjoyed it...she laughed, cried, and danced in the isle. I enjoyed it too, though the 3D was no big deal. My daughter did not understand why Shrek wanted to have one day of single ogre living, no matter how many times I explained it....but she enjoyed the silly characters all the same. Sorry to see witches getting a bad rap....other than that we had a good time.

I enjoyed Shrek 3D. It was very entertaining and fun to watch, especially the idea of having Puss-in-Boots appear heavier. The 3D graphics were pretty cool to watch.
Of course, it's difficult to top the previous Shrek movies, but overall, I enjoyed it and would recommend it for everyone of all ages.

I took my son and his friend to this movie - they are both 10 - with high expectations for the 3D effects. Movie theaters charge more money for the 3D showings and movietickets.com even adds a surcharge for them so I come to expect alot. The effects were underwhelming - I'd actually have to see the 2D film to really compare the quality; that's how mediocre it was. The story line was like Shrek, tired and not feeling the excitement of days and Shreks gone by. Most of the characters were beyond annoying - especially the witches and the Pied Piper. Rumplestiltskin was awful and I am sure scary to small children. The boys I took said that the flashbacks and story were confusing. I agree - I don't think a kid can connect to the midlife-crises aspect of this movie and would find the abandonment of Shrek's kids and family a little disturbing, With that said, some will find the familiarity of the characters comfortable - like an old shoe. There were some funny moments and the tenderness Shrek showed for Fiona was sweet. I wouldn't recommend this as a must-see but it would satisfy a Shrek fan if they can overlook some of the deficiencies. Like many franchise films, they should take a hint from the box-office sales that enough enough and retire these characters.

OK, I love the shreks, so seeing it in 3D was cool! It kept my 10 & 12 year olds attention, and the story line was easy to follow. New characters made it fresh, and the old ones made it familar. Great for the whole family!

It was a family friendly movie for all ages, I took my girls to view the 3D movie and it kept my 2 1/2 yr old quiet the entire movie, and that was with her keeping the glasses on. It had some humor that adults only found funny (because we were old enough to remember why it was funny). These film characters have become more real through the 4+ Shrek films. Eddie Murphy's Donkey brings a laugh to any scene he's in and Mike Myers' and Cameron Diaz's Shrek and Fiona have a deep onscreen chemistry. I wonder if the younger ones will be a little bored with this one. There's more drama and emotion than any since the first Shrek, but not as much to laugh at (though fart jokes are always funny.) Walt Dohrn's Rumpelstiltskin seems to have borrowed from Jason Lee's Syndrome from The Incredibles. Listen for a whole bunch of cameo roles from Lake Bell, Kathy Griffin, Jane Lynch, Mary Kay Place, Meredith Viera, Kristen Schaal, and Ryan Seacrest, and repeating cameos from Regis Philbin and Larry King.
It's sad to say good-bye to these characters, but I know we'll be watching these films for many years to come.

The children were engaged -- their ages are 10, 10, 9, 9, 6, 3 -- this was mostly due to the really great special effects -- even I, the adult enjoyed those -- the storyline was alright though not as good as the first one.
