After seeing the stage show in Vegas I was super excited to see this movie but I was prepared for it not to be AS GOOD as the play but I WAS WRONG. The producers of this movie did such an amazing job taking this movie from the stage to the screen and I was completely impressed. The cast could not of been anymore perfect. Super funny and even emotional at times. It was a GREAT movie!! I would recommend anyone see this if they love a musical!

What a fun movie! Yes, some of the singers might not be destined for Broadway--but it's just a light hearted, cute movie that has you humming and singing along. The location where they filmed is BEAUTIFUL! And Pierce Brosnan is pretty easy on the eyes as well....... Would definitely recommend to friends, and even go see a second time with them.

I've seen the stage production and was so excited for this movie. I thought it was very well done and I enjoyed it all. It had me laughing at many parts and the singing was great (with the exception of 1) but they seemed to cover it up pretty well. I would definitely recommend this movie!

What a great movie. I have seen Mamma Mia on stage but the movie was wonderful. The only down side is Pierce Brosnan singing. It would be nice if you could get up and sing and dance along with the movie, but I guess that will just have to wait until I can buy it on DVD.

Good rendition, and the acting is pretty good (all the cast seemed up to the task), but compared to seeing this on stage, these folks are OLD, and the staging is sometimes pretty kitchy, and frankly, fake stars in the sky don't cut it for me. However, it was fun, Bernie Anderson appears in a cameo which was fun, and overall, a good rendition.

From beginning to end, I had a broad smile on my face. I was expecting the worst, since our metro newspapers reviewed it so badly, but I wanted to see anything "ABBA",so I went. Anyone who can't see this as a romp, a rollicking couple of hours of fun, has lost the ability to relax and just enjoy life. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. As a woman of 62, what a kick to see these three seasoned actresses having the time of their lives. Meryl Streep was out of this world, again. But who knew she could sing and dance, too? Even totally boring lyrics were sung with emotion that made them convincing. The rest of the cast was fabulous. What a joy!

I had seen the strage version twice; off Broadway touring cast and, in London. As such, I had reservations about the movie as, with few exceptions, the movie versions do not hack it (Sound of Music a true exception). Meryl Streep was perfect as Donna. Her singing impressed me. Pierce Brosnan acted well but is not a singer! Amanda Seyfried looked the part of Meryl Streep's daughter and, can certainly sing! Her and Meryl Streep were great together with "Slipping Through My Finers". All in all, excellent!

For about the first 10-15 minutes, I couldn't decide if I liked the movie or couldn't stand it. It was a little too girly -even for me. It bothered me that the actors were singing instead of ABBA. But as it went on I actually liked it better than if they had used the original tracks. It made it feel so "impromptu" in spite of the over-the-top silly choreography. :) The dialouge was hysterically funny & the whole production just sucks you in & MAKES YOU LOVE IT! The cast works so well together & the scenery is amazing! I swear, you will love this movie whether you want to or not. I can sum it up in just one word: FUN!!

Mamma Mia is a fantastic movie with phenomenal music and a incredible story line. I felt like it was a high energy, full of life, full of fun adventure and one I will definitely see again with my little girl. ...listening to Pierce Brosnan sing is downright painful - he even looks like he's in pain - yikes! I do have to give the guy credit - he tried really, really... really hard. That said, the movie was pretty good - not on par with Chicago or Moulin Rouge but it is fun and totally cheesy so if you go in with a lighthearted attitude (and a few drinks) you'll laugh a lot and enjoy yourself. I thought Meryl Streep did great and the gals who played her friends stole the show. Also the girl who played the daughter is a fabulous actor with a beautiful voice.

Even if you aren't a musical addict, or an old Abba fan, you'll be overcome with the utter enjoyment this gorgeous cast exhibits as they constantly surprise you (and possibly themselves).
Need another reason? The Greek Isles have never looked so magical without a lot of Disney help nad maybe some cartoonishness.
Musically, the talent is so impressive even Pierce Brosnan (who obviously doesn't need to display any talent at all) should be proud - actually he may actually have been the most pleasant male surprise. Meryl, of course, sang beautifully but most of her fans know she had lots of vocal training, so watch her to experience total abandon right in front of your face (this lady has balls!)
There really isn't any wasted film, sound or moment whatsoever - and no possible excuse not to go enjoy yourself with this movie.

I was struck by how much energy and enthusiasm the actors portrayed in this movie, and by how much fun they seemed to have - it was really infectious. A great summer movie, and I'd like to see it again.
