So many people are trying to hate this movie, even without seeing it, that there are going to be a lot of negative reviews. But this is a great Indiana Jones story. It has a different feel than the first three, different time, as well as an older star. But mostly, it is because it is a tribute to old 50 and 60s B-sci-fi movies and not the serials of the 30s. So there is the same cheesy story line, love story and sidekick you would see in those movies. Even a Tarzan thrown in. Young Indy on TV did not become a great hit, because it was different than the movies. But expect a great, fun adventure, in any format, and you will love this movie. And thanks, Steven, for using a tri-pod to shoot the movie action scenes, none of this modern shaking that passes for action sequences these days.

Anyone that doesn't like this movie is just being nit picky! Putting the other three movies aside Skulls stands on its own as a fun summertime movie! The story was consistant and all the humor you would expect from an Indy movie was there in abundance! Go see this movie!

While Indy may be a bit long in the tooth there is certainly no grass growing beneath his feet. Plenty of action, and though lacking in a good solid story, the special effects will keep you busy, and Cate Blanchette is surprisingly funny as an over-the-top villaness. Will disappoint many, but new fans will flock to the action.

I have been an Indiana Jones fan since the very first movie. I was very pleased to find that the excitement and fun of the first three movies was there for this movie. Harrison Ford was as good as ever and it was nice to have Karen Allen back again. The special effects are great in this one and even though it was the 4th movie in the series, the plot can stand alone. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone.

I highly recommend you saving $10 on seeing this movie and using the money to put 2 gallons of gas in your car. The movie was horrible. Unfortunately, the press, including the Cannes Film Festival representatives are so far up Spielberg’s and Lucas’ butt that they do not have the guts to say it stinks. But, when you read the reviews, you can tell they really want to say it stinks but they just can’t do it. Very lame movie. Too much computer graphics compared to NONE in the first 3 movies and they were very good without it. Ford not only looks too old for the action sequences but his voice sounds old and tired. At one point he can barely walk with a pop in his step and the next minute he is jumping like a stuntman. Oh, wait a minute, that was obviously a stuntman. The most shocking part of the movie is the beginning and Indy speaks for the first time. You almost feel sorry for him because his voice is tired and aged. The actress that played Marion in the first Indy is back and she is not looking, acting or sounding very well either. 1 out of 5 stars.

Shia steals the show (not a bad thing, he does a decent job here). Too much CGI and silly bits. (Did you ever think you'd see computer-generated groundhogs in an Indiana Jones movie? Thanks, George Lucas.) Bad guys are non-threatening. Uninteresting artifact they're looking for that holds magical powers, but only shows those powers when it's convenient to the script. Final payoff at the end is lame and silly. Indy seems to be along for the ride in this one rather than being the adventurer making all the right moves. Way too much screentime of watching Indy thinking out loud. Ford and Allen are too old for this stuff. Their chemistry is forced and awkward. Like others have said: a wasted opportunity. We all wanted an exciting new Indy movie... instead we got the product of once-legendary / now-lazy filmmakers that have completely forgotten what makes a great Indiana Jones movie. (Hint: it's not CGI groundhogs.)

When Indiana Jones survives a nuclear explosion by hiding in a refrigerator that is blown across the desert, the sidekick beats a car in a chase by swinging on vines like Tarzan and a communist baddie is covered in ants who drag him into an ant hill, you know your movie has serious issues. It just felt good! My 14, and 11 year old daughters and my 9 year old son loved it as well! Very good edition to the set. My wife even commented to me that she thought it was the best Indy put out... Well, that is hard to judge but worth the money!

Spielberg, Ford, and company have successfully brought back Indiana Jones. The computer effects used in this movie are not as glamorous as the live-action stunts of the past, but, this movie will still satisfy action lovers. The storyline is a little predictable and seems to borrow additional elements from Tomb Raider, National Treasure and The Da Vinci Code. One other note about the storyline, while the previous movies were strictly fantasy, this film has definitely moved into the realm of sci-fi. I hope this isn't considered "jumping the shark" but "I have a bad feeling about this."

This is a quality, entertaining movie. I know it has been panned by some, but I suspect they did not go into it with the right attitude or they just want to project their "intelligence" by criticizing a movie bound to receive popular, if not critical, acclaim. Going in, you have to accept that Indy is 20 years older; the movie is firmly set in the 50s, complete with period gags and dialog; commies are the bad guys; and it has elements of a 50s "B Movie" as opposed to the 1930s serial style of the others. Don't go for a French-style plot or art film dialog--go for a good time, high end action, and to welcome Indiana Jones back to the big screen.

Harrison Ford put on the hat, and was still sexy and amazing as ever. There were familiar visuals that reach back to the oringal trilogy. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Great idea of re-introducing Karen Allen's caricture. I could have done without the prairie dog scenes–which reflects Lucas's bad habit of showing unecessary juvenile scenes of "cutsie" creatures. Other than that, it was great!

I've been an Indiana Jones fan since I was a child. I'm right in that demographic that can actually remember getting to see Raiders of the Lost Ark as a child. I loved this movie. No, it wasn't perfect, but so few movies are these days. Parts were a bit far fetched, but come on, he found the freakin' Holy Grail in the last one! The adventure was there, the characters were there, the fun was there. I left the theatre having been entertained for the previous 2 hours, and really, isn't that what the movies are supposed to be about?

We enjoyed the movie and that's what really counts. As others have said it's tough to compare it to the originals because movie audiences are different now than they were 20 years ago. I feel it failed to capture the sense of adventure in the first but as a stand-alone movie it was definitely worth the ticket price and enjoyable overall.

This movie easily ranks third among the indy flicks. It has everything the other movies do-action, adventure, a little romance, mystery, and wit. The chemistry between Indy and Marion is still there and still works. Mutt and Indy (Shia and Harrison) make a great pair. And the alien undertone adds some extra excitement. Bottom Line: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a great ride and you'll enjoy every minute of it.

I just got back from seeing the Indiana Jones movie. Having read nothing but horrible reviews I thought that I would add my take.
Going into this movie I knew it was set in the 50’s so I anticipated stereotypes from that era and I expected a B movie with lots of action. I wasn’t disappointed on either front. It was a quintessential serial film that Lucas has paid homage too in all the Indiana Jones movies. It was great! I really did love the whole thing. There was plenty of action, laughs and more action. There were a few spots when they went for the extra cheap laugh and those just fell flat. Part of me wonders if small children would laugh at them and that’s why they were in there. I would put this on par with the Last Crusade but it’s different. I felt that the action was a little more in line with the first movie but of course, not as good. Anyone that expects any Indiana Jones movie to live up to Raiders of the Lost Ark are kidding themselves. At the end of the movie there was actually a smattering of applause. I would give this movie an 8.5 (out of 10) if not for the bad part. Yes there was some bad. Unfortunately Harrison Ford was terrible. He’s too old to pull off the swagger that Indy should have and his acting was poor. The fact that he drove me crazy and still liked the movie should really say something for the film. They should have also left Karen Allen out of this but they really couldn’t with the script. She hasn’t aged well either and her acting skills are on par with Ford’s. Cate Blanchett played a wonderful Russian villainess and Shia LaBeouf was surprising good as a wannabe James Dean greaser. I will say that some people will not like this movie. I think that those people expect too much from the franchise.
Overall I give it a 7.5. I will see it again and I’m looking forward to it

I have got to agree with many others that it's not as good as Last Crusade but it was definately worth seeing. I found it funny and inventive (when it comes to the sci-fi twist). I'm also very glad to see the torch passed on so well, hopefully this means that there will still be more adventures to come even if Harrison Ford isn't the lead anymore. Overall I've got to say it was a great date movie and a great way to spend an evening.

The move from 30s and 40s adventure stuff to 50s B movie takes some getting used to, and I didn't like the animal stuff. That was probably all George Lucas right there. Nevertheless, it was good. It was nice to see Indy be Indy again, and Cate Blanchette made a good villian. The Raiders references brought back memories, and even Shia as Mutt was a decent performance. Four stars, would watch again.

As our world seems to be spiraling into financial chaos, I don’t know about you, but I needed a bit of fantasy, some adventure and who best to deliver, than the team of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, John Williams, Harrison Ford and Karen Allen, all older but still passionate about creating a gorgeous adventure movie for our pleasure.
On a Thursday night at 7:45, our performance was sold out and while we couldn’t get our usual seats, we got there with enough time for the row just below and I remained, glued in my seat for the next 2+ hours even though I did need a bathroom break, but I couldn’t leave and miss one scene gorgeously layered and leading us to the next door, into the next room, into the next cave, up the next set of stone steps, all in search of the crystal skull.
We have moved out of the 30’s and on to the 50’s now fighting the Russians and FBI agents sniffing our “commies”. Indiana, beaten and battered and grizzled, still knows how to get up and take charge with his brains and his spirit of adventure.
He has a young Elvis/Brando boy working with him and John Hurt as his fellow adventurer, and let’s not forget the dark side, an evil Kate Blanchet and her Russian soldiers.
I was happy to be back in the hands of great storytellers, who love making movies as much as I love living inside them for a few hours, a necessary break from reality.
Hats off to the Indie team! BK

Everyone knows this is not the best of the series, but I found it very entertaining and the ending was satisfying for this lifelong fan. I know the critics and some rabid fans are disappointed, but any time you judge a film simply by comparing it to past efforts, you are nearly always going to be unhappy. Take it for what it is, and just enjoy the ride! I am definitely going to see this one more than once.

I loved this movie, it brought back all the memories of all the things I loved about Indy. It was funny, action packed and full of surprises. Yeah the whole "plot" was a bit week but Harrison Ford and company made it all work as he always does. It would rate as my 3rd favorite behind Last Crusade and Raiders. There were lots of applause at the end in my theater.

This is franchise ruining. The script is week, the action sequences are not only unrealistic as all action sequences are - but simply ridiculous.
Decent actors / bad writing / franchise ruining.

I went with great expectations and came out disappointed. The editing was awful and you could surely tell that the stuntman was doing all the stunts (no offense to Mr. Ford - I understand he's getting older, but they could have done a better job with the editing.) The story line was fair - the acting wasn't that great. Indiana had a few good lines - but mostly it was just ... I don't know.. unbelievable, even for Indiana Jones. They should have stuck with biblical artifacts as in the 1st and 3rd movie. For some reason that's a lot more believable than what I witnessed last night.
