I love Johnny Depp! That said, I stayed for the whole movie but as we left, I wondered what I would take with me. NOTHING is the answer. We needed to get inside. We needed a compelling story.
I didn't notice that there was a story to engage me.
The night before I watched Last Chance Harvey on Netflicks. That's my recommendation.

I wanted to like this one. I enjoyed the previews and I am a sucker for "romantic movies" . The first minutes were fantastic. The audience roared. But once the storyline took us out of New York City to Alaska, thud!
The name of the game was contrived!

BIg surprise. I went with no expectations and enjoyed every minute of it. Of course, that had a lot to do with Clive Owen. I totally believed him and the suspense was terrific.

Revolutionary Road: I'm Still with the movie

I just downloaded the novel for this movie onto my Kindle and I get what the actors in this piece mean when they rave about it. It's a perfect companion to this very powerful movie.
I want to know more about these characters and from page one I see them deeply.
That said, the movie is great. It's not a date movie but it's wonderful.

I loved this movie. It's creative and powerful in its message. As much as we hear about India and it's move into the 21st. century, there's so much chaos and poverty for millions of people there. I hope this piece goes all the way to the Academy Awards!

Welcome Back Indiana Jones

As our world seems to be spiraling into financial chaos, I don’t know about you, but I needed a bit of fantasy, some adventure and who best to deliver, than the team of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, John Williams, Harrison Ford and Karen Allen, all older but still passionate about creating a gorgeous adventure movie for our pleasure.
On a Thursday night at 7:45, our performance was sold out and while we couldn’t get our usual seats, we got there with enough time for the row just below and I remained, glued in my seat for the next 2+ hours even though I did need a bathroom break, but I couldn’t leave and miss one scene gorgeously layered and leading us to the next door, into the next room, into the next cave, up the next set of stone steps, all in search of the crystal skull.
We have moved out of the 30’s and on to the 50’s now fighting the Russians and FBI agents sniffing our “commies”. Indiana, beaten and battered and grizzled, still knows how to get up and take charge with his brains and his spirit of adventure.
He has a young Elvis/Brando boy working with him and John Hurt as his fellow adventurer, and let’s not forget the dark side, an evil Kate Blanchet and her Russian soldiers.
I was happy to be back in the hands of great storytellers, who love making movies as much as I love living inside them for a few hours, a necessary break from reality.
Hats off to the Indie team!
