Unforgettable

I was not expecting this movie to live up to the hype. How could it? But sometimes, the critics and rabid fans get it right. This is one of the finest movies I have ever seen. Forget 'genre', forget 'comic book' and 'graphic novel'. This is one of the best written stories to make it to the screen, period. Amazing screenplay, cinematography, stunts....but the star is the acting. EVERY SINGLE actor in this film was at the top of their game. Gary Oldman, Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Sir Michael Caine, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal...are you kidding me? What an embarrassment of riches! But there is no doubt--Heath Ledger's Joker will haunt me for the rest of my life. What a performance.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Entertaining and satisfying, if flawed

Everyone knows this is not the best of the series, but I found it very entertaining and the ending was satisfying for this lifelong fan. I know the critics and some rabid fans are disappointed, but any time you judge a film simply by comparing it to past efforts, you are nearly always going to be unhappy. Take it for what it is, and just enjoy the ride! I am definitely going to see this one more than once.
