I am a Harry Potter purist. I have really liked the first 4 movies, which contained some deviation from the books but totally tolerable. Movie 5 was horrible, this movie was only slightly better. I would wait for the DVD release. There was barely any recognizable story lines from the books. While the book is dark and informative, the movie was funny and light. The quidditch scene was completely gratuitous and out of sync. The burning of The Burrow was bizarre and added no merit to the plot. No mention of what the Horcruxes were or how Voldemort set out to attain them. This movie was total fluff, no substance. Don't bother.

I have no idea what the writers were thinking when they wrote the script to this movie. The story felt thrown together and made no sense. Hermione spent most of the movie making stupid faces over situations that really didnt call for it.
What was with the Weasley house burning scene. What did this bring to the story? What was the point of it being in there? Where was Draco's father? Where was Voldemort? Where was the Dursely's? The movie is called the half blood prince and they never really explained much about it except to say it was Snape. And the greatest wizard ever is killed, and we dont even get a funeral scene for him?
This was the WORST movie out of all of them.

If you read the books, then this movie won't disappoint you as it was in keeping with the book, which had a lot more building up of the plot--getting the readers ready for the spectacular finale in book #7. Acting was quite good, and as usual, Alan Rickman as Snape was fabulous!

Of the Harry Potter movies, this would be their finest production. Though it is not a stand alone movie apart from the others (but thats the way the book is) the way that it flows gets the central ideas accross easily to viewers who have never read the book. For those who have read the book, the movie and the book compliment each other nicely - so having read the book makes the movie that much more enjoyable. It had its funny moments and was immensely entertaining, but it was true to the darker nature of book six, as the evil in the world of Harry Potter rises.

I liked it alot - wish they put more of the book in - books way better of course. What they did put in was well done. I wanted more of the flash backs though to explain more - so if you hadn't read the book you'd get more info. They are choosing to not explain about Lord Vold.'s past - too bad.

some nice cgi effects and natural scenery, but the 5th one was better. they did ok given the material but the 6th book didn't have a plot to begin with, and in the movie it felt even less like it had a plot. it's a lot better than movies 1 & 2. they don't really keep the original dialogue and i don't know why, and they cut quite a bit out, but they added some random unnecessary scenes, such as one where the death eaters randomly burn down the weasley house and helena bonham carter runs around. overall the movie is good though and i liked it. however they don't do a good job of making the movie accessible to someone who hasn't read the book. it would probably be confusing if you haven't read book 6.

I was so excited about the next episode of the movie and walked away confused and disappointed. While the maturing of the characters and the budding romances made the movie more exciting, I was still let down at the end. If I knew what I know now, I would have waited for the crowd to die down before I rushed to see it - but don't wait for it to come out on HBO..

I enjoyed the movie overall, but I was mostly disappointed. If you hadn't read the books and watched this movie I don't think you'd have any idea about what was going on. There were some crucial things that were left out of this movie that are going to have to be explained in the seventh movie(s) and it's going to really make me angry if they just gloss over them. Plus they STILL did not bring Dobby back and he plays a crucial role in 7.

if you've read the book, this movie will disappoint. While I understand the need to remove certain elements for the movie going public, sadly, some points were needed. For example, when Harry saved Ron from the poison, he shoved a bean down his throat. How did he know to do that? The movie left out the sequence where Harry knew to do that from the Half Blood Prince's book. That, to me, is an important plot element that should not have been left out. I was sad there wasn't the fight for Hogwarts at the end of the movie, nor the funeral for Dumbledore. Overall, entertaining, but not the best Harry Potter movie to date. Next one, since it's the last, had better follow the book more closely.

The sets are awesome and great special effects. It was wonderful to spend time with the characters again, and the newer Dumbledore's acting is the best in this movie.
However, there were some of the really important pivitol plot aspects of this book were mentioned at best and then dropped. The plot did not hang together totally as a result.
My husband, who did not read the book, felt very unfulfilled and "in the dark" about the story line and what was the importance of "the half-blood prince"....
Oh well.

I love the movie as always. the only reason I gave 4 stars was lack of it's normal amount of action. I think Ron and Hermany should have gotten to gether before Harry and Jenny. I love it none the less can't wait for the next one.

I saw this movie last night and like all the other Harry Potter movies, I enjoyed this installment very much. I've grown to love Harry, Hermonie, Ron and Jenny since the beginning and it's such a pleasure to see how lovely each character has grown up as the movies progressed. The storylines are always amazing. It was funny, sad and at times a little scary. I've never read any of the books, but I have always enjoyed the movies. If you're a fan of the books and or movies, this is a must see movie. I know I will definitly be seeing this movie another time as I've done with the other installments. I will be very sad to see the last movie, but I will always have the memories of these wonderful movies and the dvds.

The series never fails to disappoint. Great directing and acting as usual. The movie does a good job of tastefully balancing dark themes with comic relief. It's unfortunate that we have to wait every year (or more) for the sequel, though.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood prince is better than the last Harry Potter movie, but there are a couple of things added that did NOT happen in the book and do nothing to improve the movie. First, is the scene where the Burrows is attacked and set on fire. The Weasley house does not catch fire in the book and no further mention of the occurrence is made in the movie. Just before the fire starts Harry is seen running out of the protection surrounding the home into the night. Now, come on. Would Harry really do that?? The second is right before the death scene where several Hogwarts students are seen loitering in the hallway late at night apparently drinking and possibly snogging. Highly unlikely Hogwarts rules would permit such behavior!

I have read every book and seen all the previous movies in the Harry Potter series. That being said, I know some people who were dissappointed in this movie because the book was better. Those people need to remember that the book is extensive and it is VERY hard to cram all of that excellence into a 2 1/2 hour time period, plus they need to appeal not only to the book's fans but also people who have not read the book. They did a great job in getting all of the main points from the book into the movie and it is a very enjoyable experience for the series' lovers and those that have not read the books. Well done! Before I took the family to see this movie I read and heard many negative reviews about this movie. The main complaint was that this movie did not follow the book well at all, so the movie was bad. Well, I read all of the books and I thought the movie was great. Folks, it is almost impossible for a movie to be made just like the book. If they did, this movie would have been seven hours long. The liberties they took with the story were fine and they did not harm the story. Go see this movie and have fun, you will enjoy it.

I've been a fan of the Potter franchise for several years. The books are always better, but this movie does try. It's funnier than the previous films, and there are some tender moments among the characters. However, the scenes feel clipped, as if they were trimmed for time. There is at least one scene that never appeared in the books, and makes no sense if you've read the books. If you haven't read the books but only seen the movies, you should enjoy this movie. If you've enjoyed the books, don't break your heart. Just wait for the DVD to add to the collection and put it straight on the shelf. I hope Deathly Hallows does the book justice because this one didn't.

It's been a year since I read the book last, and so I read all of the books up until this one before the movie, but held off re-reading HBP, and because of this I found the movie VERY enjoyable. However I'm guessing had I read the book directly before hand I may have been disappointed. So if you don't read the books, or haven't for a while, I think I can say for certain that you will love this movie! Otherwise you're own your own!

As a parent who has not taken time to read the books, this movie did an excellent job of staying with the story and proceding to the next. The characters are growing and deeping as the years go by. I definately can't wait for the final films.

The long awaited HP6 was disappointing. I have not read the book, but could clearly tell that it was just bits and pieces of a bigger picture. Also, am tired of Helena Bonham Carter dominating things. Not sure why she was cast as Bellatrix, except that she is a name in england. The movie does have its funny moments, and it has stellar performances from Alan Rickman and Michael Gambon. Would have like to have seen more from some of the veteran actors. Overall, I came away somewhat depressed and disappointed at it.

I was disappointed by the movie. If you've read the book, you'd be disappointed as well. Now, if you haven't read the book, I can see this movie being pretty good. The movie could have explained a lot more though. I was looking forward to the fight towards the end of the movie and I was quite upset that there wasn't one.

I LOVED it!!! I really enjoyed the humor and romance of this one. While it wasn't true to all elements of the book (but what movie adapted from a book ever is) it did set us up nicely for the final 2 movies. I saw it twice and loved it just as much the second time!!!
