We have read all the potter books and were totally looking forward to this movie! it did not disappoint! Go into the movie knowing that none of the movies (other than the first one) follows all the scenes of the books very well. They leave some good scenes out, foul up others, but it was still great to see the Hogwarts gang in action again! oh, and my son says "Inferis rule!"

Of all 6 Harry Potter movies, I never laughed as hard as I did in this one. The wittiest film in the series yet. From the second the film starts, the tone is completely different than any other. You can sense the change in mood. For the first time, the trio (and other characters including Luna & ESPECIALLY Draco) showed their true acting skills. I have to say I have not enjoyed an HP film THIS immensely since Prisoner of Azkaban. It flowed, it made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me anxious, it made me scared, it made me happy that this film set the next movie (part I & II) up perfectly. Bring on Deathly Hallows, I & II! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I really like the fact the movie is longer than the 1st 5 have been. This is needed to ensure many important details are included. There is a lot of magic and a lot of humor in this movie. I thought it was splendidly done, but I did think there could have been a better fight scene at the end. Other than this, I was completely enthralled from beginning to end as was my son. I DEFINITELY needed tissues at the end.

There is much that is different from the book. Many exciting things from the book were eliminated. Also, the way that Harry is portrayed in the climatic scene deviates significantly from the book. Anyone who truly knows Harry knows he would not react that way in light of the eminent danger to a key character. I enjoyed the humor, and felt the overall tone of the movie was well done. Could have done without the opening scene in the cafe, would have preferred to see Dumbledore collect Harry from the Dursleys as in the book. Bill and Fluer should not have been eliminated from this film.

Aftter reading the book twice, the movie proved to be a let down. I realize that everything cannot possibly be put into the movie, but what I felt were key moments were totally left out. I'm hoping the the last movie is better, even if it has to be shown over 4 hours or longer, with an intermission.

I saw this movie with my 17 and 10 year old children. We all enjoyed it very much it was just as great as the first four. We are all anticipating the last one. Harry Potter is a classic now and a truly great adventure. And personally,I like that its a creative family film not predictable or typical.

Since I've read the books (several times), I go by my wife's impressions, since she hasn't read any of the books. As usual, she required at lot of input from me to understand what was going on. But, if you're a fan, you'll take whatever they can give. The humor was especially good in this film. However, even though they showed the cabinet with all the memories, my wife didn't realize that was the main thrust of the book along with Dumbledore passing the torch to Harry. Overall, I left with a positive impression of the movie. But like any fan, I'm always disappointed by what was left out and what seemed to be changed (like the invasion of Hogwarts).

This movie gets five stars for special effects and richness of ambiance and characters. Unfortunately, it only earns two stars for story. Although there were a few plot points, they were only there as a set-up for the next installment. At the end it seemed like I'd watched the first half of a two-part show. Oh yeah, there may have been some funny lines, because a couple of people out of the hundred or so in the theater chuckled a few times. The reason the rest of us didn’t laugh is that the young actors mumbled their lines so badly that we couldn’t understand what they were saying. Even so, ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ is worth a look for the interesting visuals. Three-and-a-half stars overall.

I took my 10 year old son who is in love with the Harry Potter movies. We both felt it was the best one to date. The cinematography was amazing. And even though we knew from the book what was going to happen we were still on the edge of our seats enjoying every moment.

It would be a lot less annoying if it was not hyped up and marketed at such levels. This movie was like a high-school soap opera more than what it is marketed as, which is an action-adventure series demanding some emotional depth. It almost seemed like the makers had run out of ideas. And all throughout there have been attempts to glorify the central character of Potter with labels as 'the chosen one' even though the character comes out completely ordinary and lacklustre.

This addition to the Harry Potter franchise was very well done for a movie with less action and more romance than the other movies. May be confusing for those who have not read the books. I was a bit surprised by what the movie version left out that was in the book. I was really excited about seeing the attack on hogwarts as well as their was no mention of one of the characters death, that was also in the book. I thought there was too much focus on the sub-plot of Lavender and Ron. Although I do believe this was a transition movie for the characters, moving into the teenage years, there could have been so much more added that was in the book. I know it is impossible to put everything into a movie that was in a book but I really felt that there were a lot of key components left out. .

I have seen all the Harry Potter movies and look forward to them when they are released. Without question this was the worst episode in the series. The story line didn’t seem to flow and the movie was way too long without any significant reason. Don’t expect much in ways of new magic or affects even though they had a great opportunity with the used potion book. There is one significant death in the movie and I feel they didn’t even do the character justice in explaining the significance of the loss or the power it took to accomplish the killing. There is a positive to the movie it had some unexpected funny moments with adult double innuendo. See the movie to be kept up to speed for the next sequel.

I thought this movie was an excellent adaptation of the book. Although, I liked the movie, I felt like the book was more intriguing, so to speak. The special effects, yada, yada, yada. The point is the directory isnt a real Harry fan so he left out a few ( at Least two) important scences that would have made the movie better. For a fan the plot was filled out enough to make due but again not quite enough. Final scence was also just ok. I will watch it again on pay per view, it isn't a movie to pay at the box office twice for. Save your money for the last one, next year, i presume.

A very watchable movie, even after reading the books. Many movies do not follow the books and do not hold up. This was great for both those who have or have not read the book. I liked the development of the main characters and the way it leads up to book #7. It was a close "movie" adaptation of the book. I wish they had delved more into the Snape aspect of it, but overall hit on all the points I was anticipating after having read #6. I enjoyed watching it immensely and will see it again in the theater (hopefully at IMAX) next month.

It was a good movie but not great. I have always been a Potter fan but this movie left me wanting more and I don't mean more movies. There wasn't anything resolved and I know that's a good movie making trick but it doesn't make me want to see this movie again and again. Not bad but I agree that it's another of summers movie disappointments. Good but not as good as it should have been.

The Half Blood Prince was more like 3.5 stars. Four is a little generous. Given that I had read the book long before the release of the movie, I thought it did a fair job of jostling my memories of this portion of the Potter series. Overall, the acting was on par with the style and ability presented in the earlier films. Having heard that the remaining installment shall be broken into two movies, I find that the Half Blood Prince could have been condensed and added to the first of the remaining two films. The plotline is interesting, but drawn out. It worked better in the book than on screen. At any rate, this film was pretty good overall, and I would still recommend it to people but I think I could have waited for the DVD.

To tell you the truth I was expecting a little more action. Although it was still a very good movie overall the rest of the series still outshine this one so far. They missed out a few important scenes, and added unnecissary ones. Aside from all that it was actually pretty funny. Definetly a movie to watch though.

This movie had a good blend of visually appealing magic and character interaction. I liked the teenage "love" developments as well as the torment of evil.
