Excellent. It is long but fast paced and everyone in the theatre seemed to love the whole thing. The consensus among the group I saw it with was that it was the best of the neck and neck with one of azkaban if not the best. I happened to have the time to reread the book just prior to the showing and I noticed discrepencies between the two, though I still thoroughly enjoyed the film and will see it again in theatres. If you are not reading the book just before, then no worries.

This movie was nothing like the book, they may as well have changed the title for all it had to do with the Half Blood Prince. It isn't even a decent movie on it's own/ If I hadn't read the book I would have left that movie more than seriously disappointed, I would have been rather confused. They made this movie only as a bridge between the first 5 and the 7th (both). Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "based on the novel...".

I didn't think this was the best HP ever. It differed from the book in MANY ways, yes the story was essentially there but there are 2 big scenes that differed from the book that may have ramifications in the next movie. Loved the humor but 3 of the "added" scenes could have been left out and the original writing used. Hope the next one is better

I took my mom and stepdad to this movie for the first showing at midnight and it did not dissappoint. Knowing that the book was very dark, I was concerned how it was going to keep my attention for 2 1/2 hrs, but it flew by, had some very funny lighter moments and was totally top notch acting showing a different side to each of the main characters. I totally hated how the book ended and felt the same way about the movie, but not in a bad way. Even though I had read the book recently, I was constantly surprised with how it played out on the screen. My favorite part had to be the quidditch game with Ron thinking he was unstoppable. Go Ron! Can't wait until the next movie comes out! = )

I was one of those wacky people who went to the midnight showing, and was eager about it the entire prior day. [I was also one of those fools who had to work the next day.] Completely stunning movie adaptation. Yes, some things were lost from the transition of book, but overall visually appealing with very good acting and wonderful dialog--just enough humor to lighten the dark undertones without making it campy.
I will be back to see this in the theater and anxiously awaiting the DVD release.

Yates did an excellent job of rendering the book and making it less pedantic and dark and helping Harry appear less wimpy and Dumbledore less feeble than Rowling wrote it.
Bit more "atmosphere" than needed but Yates is an artist but he didn't let it become distracting or annoying the way Cuoron did in Prisoner.
Stylishly filmed, well acted, excellent pace, good amount of humor, and a script that feels like it improves on the book

This movie was really, really, great. It had comedy while it keep the darker theme still in play. The "Memory" scenes were potrayed perfectly (though they excluded the ones about the Gaunt family) and the romance in the movie was really sweet. My one critisism is the fact that *certain character's* funeral was not inculded which really baffles me. The movie could have been a tad bit closer to the book, but overall I think it was worth the wait, and it was nearly everything I anticipated. So now only about one year until DH part 1!! (hopefully)

This movie is the best so far. It is nice to see the growth of the movies and cast . The only thing that I wished they would have put in it was the history of Snape and why he is the Half Blood Price. It would have been nice to see how kind Harry's mom was to him and how flawed his dad was. It would be good for Harry to know more about his parents. Even if it is threw Snapes eyes. I think it would give some insight about him self.

Finally, we get a movie that is not afraid to leave non-readers behind.The plot moves quickly this time, and many things are left unexplained, like the pointless fight at the Burrow.Some scenes felt like they could have used a bit more resolution.Most of the teenage romance scenes are charming and humorous, although a few scenes went overboard.I would have liked to see a bit LESS teenage drama in exchange for MORE memories in the pensieve.We only see 2 memories.The memories we don't see are all essential for Harry to find the other horcruxes in the Deathly Hallows. I hope we get flashback scenes in the next movie that show these.The cave scene is awesome. The characters that shine the most in this movie are Draco, Lavendar, Ron, and Snape.

I thought this movie was very well done. I could tell the change in the directors. I thought it was alot darker compared to the other movies but it was also funnier in some ways. I thought the acting was the best that I have seen from any of the kids definitely. The movie stayed pretty true to the book, although alot was left out but that is to be expected. I would definitely recommend this and I would definitely see it again.

This movie was one of the better ones of the series. There were alot of action-packed scenes and there was also quite a bit of comedy. I am sad that they left out some very vital scenes of the book but every movie does. But leaving out the funeral of the Professor was outrageous! That should've been one they would never dream of leaving out. The acting was better (I think it gets better as they get older). Voldemort had no scenes and there were added scenes that weren't in the book. Overall, I loved it as I did all the HP movies. I recommend it!!!

I thought it was really good, though the "love interest awkwardness" was a bit overdone. Also it portrayed the book in a happier light so avid book readers may feel it kind of ruined the tone that was portrayed in the book. Other than that it was definitely one of the best directing and acting we have seen thus far. Helena Bonham Carter was her usual phenomenal self.

Well the overall make-up of the film was good, however I as someone who has read all the books would have liked to have been introduced to the trans location cabinets earlier in the movie. Also I would have loved to have seen lupin in more than one scene. The focus on Teenage love was a bit excessive, but overall a GREAT build up to the last to installments of the Harry Potter Saga.

As a fan of the Harry Potter series, both books and movies, I was very disappointed in the HBP film. While the movie is packed with high action scenes, great plots and lots of comedy, it takes too many turns away from the actual story line. The film is a great movie if you are a fan of the movie series and not the books. If you are, like me, in love with the original stories of JK Rowling, you will leave the theater a little unhappy. You would know that there is too much information that is essential to the plot that was not included in the film. All in all, this could be a five star film for the Harry Potter movie lovers, but I see it as a slap in the face to its real fans.

I absolutely loved this movie! I am obviously a huge fan of the books and I was a little worried about this movie living up to the book because the story is a little darker than the others but I was not disappointed at all! So I went into this movie with somewhat low expectations. I knew the movie was going to be amazing on its own, but I thought I was going to be disappointed in relation to the book. I was dead wrong. Sure there are things from the book that weren't really shown in the movie, but they were pretty minor details in my opinion.
The only thing I didn't like in this movie was some of the character portrayals. The girl playing Lavender was just not who I pictured Lavender to be. I'm not alone in that. Then Narcissa...well first of all it looks like she has a skunk on her head and that's just disgusting. Then she looks really old and not as pretty as the book made her out to be. The casting definitely could have been a little bit better there...

The Half-Blood Prince was an excellent movie, even though it didn't follow the book like the other movies did. The battle scene at the end was missing all together, which was disappointing, but I imagine the movie would have been 3 1/2 hours if they had included everything in the book. All in all, the movie was a great rendition of JK Rowling's book, and was full of action and comic relief as well. Definitely would recommend this movie.

overall I enjoyed the movie but if you read the books you will understand why I was disapointed with the the ending. Actors were brilliant as usual. If you have never read the book I think you will enjoy the movie; but, if you are a fan of the books you will find that the (?screenwriter) has taken huge liberties paring down a really wonderful story to fit the screen. They have effectively taken one of JK Rowling’s most exciting endings & turned it into blah. The deatheaters make their kill & run away with Harry chasing behind & that is it. No fight by the DA, Order or anyone….No kidding! Also, when X is killed, Harry just stands by & watches. He has not been petrified & prevented from taking action as he was in the book. That is uncharacteristic of the Harry character. Hoping they don’t have the same (?screenwriter) working on the last 2 movies!

This 6th installment of the HP series was very good but a bit disappointing to an avide reader of the books. Lots of important parts were missing from the movie including the battle at Hogwarts when the death eaters gain access inside the castle. It was a bit confusing for the non-readers because they didn't explain how Snape was the HBP. My husband liked the movie but was asking questions throughout the movie and I had to fill in the gaps for him. Overall, I really enjoyed this movie, just a bit disappointed in the exclusion of some key parts.

Don't miss this movie. It assumes that you have seen all the previous movies and read all the books but still manages to keep you enchanted for 2+hr without realising it. Great combination of humor, action and coming of age makes it a DO NOT miss movie. Will see it again in IMAX 3D.

I really enjoyed the movie. I liked how it wasn't dark and gloomy as the rest. Funny, many moments when the whole theater was laughing.
However, if you read the books like I do, you would have been greatly disappointed. The movie follows some general guidelines from the book, but plays out horribly. This has to be the worst movie depiction of a book I have ever seen. I think from the book relating to the movie, this is the worst out of the series.
Rating the movie without thinking about the book, I loved it! Makes a good entrance to the next movie.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is an entertaining movie with plenty of tense moments and lots of laughs also. Visually the movie was impressive and the effects looked very realistic.

If you are a Harry Potter movie fan then this movie would probably get four and a half or five stars, but as an avid reader I felt it did not stay true to the book. Too much was left out and changed that, I think, will take away from the final book (two movies). I am surprised that Rowling let the movie producers sway so far from the original story. There were some great special effects and the movie was well done.
