Truly the best superhero movie I've ever seen. Arguably the best movie ever. I was on the edge of my seat most of the movie. The casting was perfect - Christian Bale and Heath Ledger were amazing counterparts. Definitely worth every penny.

The Dark Knight is not your typical comic book movie. The characters were complex and multi layered. Yet it also was true to the intense action scenes and one liners of the genre. Heath Ledger brought the villian up to a whole new level. There were many twists and turns, irony and action. A must see. I was not such a fan of Batman Begins, but the Dark Knight takes flight.

I think it's the best movie out so far this year, for sure. It was exciting and had a great plot. Health Ledger (RIP) did an AMAZING job with the joker - he was seriously hillarious at some points, and creepy at others. The only thing I didn't particularly think should have been in the movie was 2-face dying. I think his creation in this movie was great, but to have his entire villian career in a movie that focuses on the Joker was a little bit dissapointing. Otherwise it was great!!

I thought it was okay... but there's a lot to live up to with all the build-up and praise about the movie.
The joker was awesome... I was not impressed with Batman. The girlfriend could have been better as well.

Excellent story, lots of great effects!! Heath stole the show with his evil laugh and facial expressions. I did think it went on a little long, but I believe the story required it.
Note of Caution: this is not a movie for kids.
I was quite shocked to see a mother with her 4 and 6 year olds. Overall best Batman movie.

The movie was very intricate and detailed in introducing the new characters Harvey Dent and The Joker.
I thought that some of the plot threads, while necessary given the rest of the story, took too long to resolve and distracted from the main plots of the movie mainly Dent and The Joker.
Batman, for the most part, was vehicle for the story and not a central element. Similarly, the characters returning from the first movie Alfred and Lucius Fox were not main characters which was dissapointing.
Heath Ledger did an excellent job taking an iconic character who could have been just a standard diabolic villan and turned him into something special and an instant classic.
Overall the new Batman movie lacked some of the character developed for Bruce Wayne seen in the first movie, but it made up for it with more interesting and well rounded villans and some spectacular fx and fight sequences.

I was skeptical about all the hype around this movie. After all, it was a superhero movie.
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. This was by far the best movie I have seen in a long time. Character development, acting, screen writing, visual effects... this movie has it all plus the best performance was by far by Heath Ledger - what a shame that he is no longer with us.

Very good, great characters, deep plot, TOO LONG. Once again a hollywood movie feels it needs to be 3 hours to be truly good, and in the process watered down the middle of the movie into unneeded expansions of plotlines. Secondly it is closer too a R rating in my opinion yet the focus of toy and game sales is to younger kids, seems kind of unfair for my 5 year old to play with the toys yet not be able to see the movie. Bottom line is that it is a must see if you are a fan boy, but otherwise wait until the lines slow down. If you like action and great character development you probably want to see this at the theater.

I was really blown away at just how "dark" of a level Heath Ledger brought The Joker to. I always remembered The Joker as an annoying character from the sitcom with Adam West. This was so far from that! He was a true vilIain in every sense of the word. I realize that I'm leaving out every other charachter in the movie but Heath really stole the show! It's terrible that movies lost such a great actor, but what a great way to go out!!

This was surprisingly a great movie. I am not a real Batman fan, didn’t like him as a kid and was not interested in him as an adult. I went to see this movie with my kids out of duty. Was I surprised, I loved the movie!!!. The joker was a great character, very multifaceted. Plenty of action not, too much guts and blood, there was still something left for the imagination.

This movie is well-done, and you are completely unaware of the passage of time while watching. It truly does live up to all of the hype.
However, please do NOT take your young children to see this one. It is way too intense for young minds. I would only recommend this movie for children that are more mentally mature, ages 14 and older.

I went to the Friday evening show with my mother and my best friend. We chatted on the way there as to what we all expected.
When Heath came on the big screen we were totally blown away, he took the Joker to a whole new level. After the showing we talked about the movie for hours and how good it was, living up to all the hype that the press had given it.
The Dark Knight had to be one of the BEST movies I have ever seen. I am trying to find TDK in IMAX around me, I think it will be a sight to behold!

I felt the hype over the movie may be a set up for dissappointment. But I truly enjoyed the film. Not buying in to the hype over Heath Ledger... though he did a superb job... but when an actor "owns" a role you can't picture anyone else playing the part. Johnny Depp could have masterfully played the role. Thumbs up for Christian Bale and Maggie Gillyanhall. The story line was great--suspenseful--action pact. Hats off to Emma Thompson for another wonderully produced film.

While Christian Bale's batman voice needs alot of work, he does play a snobbish rich kid bruce wayne pretty well.
Heath Ledger is on par with Jack Nicholas' original joker performance.
Absolutely great action with the best batman storyline yet. This movie plays out like a bank robber suspense peppered with huge action scenes.
Not sure who played Katie Holme's old role, but she's twice the actress Katie was, just not as hot.
This movie really embodies what batman represents with the ending words: "he's not a hero ... he's the dark knight"
Definitely buying this one on dvd special edition.

I know that we are being told that this is the greatest movie since God walked the planet. Not to take anything from Heath Ledger's performance, which IS above par, there were too many loose ends. I expect that Ledger's death resulted in a significant amount of angst in completion of the film. But what happened to the Joker? We are never told. And why do Batman producers find the need to slip in more than one super villain? The movie would have been just as good (if not better in my opinion), if it had remained focused on the Joker.

Many people exaggerate with hype, etc...giving current movies more credit than they deserve. This movie, however, deserves ALL of the credit it has received. It is the best movie I've seen all year. The plot, flow, action, and performances are all top notch. Great special effects as well (and this is coming from someone who HATES CGI when it's overused....see Indiana Jones). Heath Ledger should be considered for Best Supporting Actor, and that is NOT just hype surrounding his death. I actually preferred Katie Holmes to Maggie Gyllenhaal in the role of Rachel Dawes, but Maggie does do a fine job filling in. By all means, though, go see this movie!!! You will not be disappointed.

The Dark Knight is a movie that walks the line between action/superhero popcorn flick, and a serious crime drama. Surprisingly, it is effective on both levels. Christopher Nolan created the movie like a skilled chemist, knowing exactly how much of each element was needed. There is not one scene that felt forced or unnecessary, and each actor played their part with conviction. When the movie is over you feel as if you have been to Gotham. That the Joker is testing you as well, and that Batman's world is a mirror to our own.
