This was exactly what we were looking for, some loose action based off American western expansion, an often ignored era in sci fi. The metaphors of imperialism are throughout and adds a little thinking to an otherwise sound action blockbuster (if you choose to). Acting is stable, and Harrison Ford surprisingly pulls off not being the "good guy hero". It builds like a mystery, only giving glimpses of the truth along with the main characters discoveries and culminates in a flashback scene around a burned body camp fire. Definitely the movie to see so far this summer, it you thing the idea of cowboys versus aliens sounds like fun, then this movie will not let you down.
Very good, great characters, deep plot, TOO LONG. Once again a hollywood movie feels it needs to be 3 hours to be truly good, and in the process watered down the middle of the movie into unneeded expansions of plotlines. Secondly it is closer too a R rating in my opinion yet the focus of toy and game sales is to younger kids, seems kind of unfair for my 5 year old to play with the toys yet not be able to see the movie. Bottom line is that it is a must see if you are a fan boy, but otherwise wait until the lines slow down. If you like action and great character development you probably want to see this at the theater.
