The Dark Knight was truly spectacular. Ledger was amazing, he'll be hard to replace. The move ran a little long and got bogged down at the end slightly, but all in all a great, dark, disturbing, fun movie.

From start to finish the movie kept your attention. Christian Bale proves again that he has earned the title of the best Batman to ever be on the big screen. Everything Bale does seems believeable. He's spot on Bruce Wayne/Batman.Heath Ledger was phenominal. He made you believe that a madman in a purple suit could be real and functional in the real-life underworld of organized crime. You didn't feel like it was some campy, over-the-top portrayal. For me it felt like he was truly insane with rage and twisted insight. We're all poorer for losing Ledger. Aaron Eckhart's role, for me, was straight out of the comics. I thought Tommy Lee Jones portrayal of Two-Face, all-beit not his fault, had ruined the character, Eckhart brought it to life. I could have watched the whole movie with him as the main villian. He was excellent. I'd say more but I don't want to give away any spoiler's. Easily a 5-star movie, totally not just hype.

This was a great movie, the action is non-stop and the plot was twisting and turning all the time. It was awesome!
This is the best Batman movie ever - and I have seen them all in the theater when they came out - including the ones I would consider on the low end of the Batman movies, like the ones with George Clooney and Val Kilmer.

This movie was one of the better action movies to come out in a long time. The acting was spot on from Christian Bale as the brooding Bruce Wayne to Heath Ledger as the deliciously twisted Joker. Throw in two extraordinary veteran actors such as Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman to add a touch of comic relief and how can you not have a knock-out hit movie? If you are coming to watch Heath Ledger's final performance, you will be delighted. I disagree that the Joker comes across as dark. He is a villian and as such must be villainous but Heath's performance is the anti-Jack Nicholson even when he's being funny. I loved the red wig! This might just be his best performance. I found the ending poignant, so you'll have to see the movie to know what I mean!

Hold on to your hat, and don't let go for a second! The Dark Night s back, and this time he's a dark and brooding detective, just like he was meant to be. Leave the kids (anyone under the age of 13) at home though, because they mean it wen they say PG-13. The Joker and Two Face are just too dark. Worth every cent you'll spend for admission, this film has set a new standard for the popular comic genre. Marvel has their work cut out for them!

It's not the epic masterpiece it's trumped up to be, but The Dark Knight is a genre-transcending comic book movie for certain. Whether or not that's a good thing is debatable; while the film certainly steps beyond it's birth material, it also manages to forget what it means to be a comic book movie, and so it refuses to be any fun. It's also exhausting, not just due to content but volume of content-- about forty minutes of this movie could easily be shaved off without missing a beat.
With the negative out of the way, this is a very, very strong film, and a new benchmark for mainstream super-hero cinema. Curiously, the film is not driven by it's lead, Christian Bale, but rather by Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, and Heath Ledger, who all turn in nuanced and powerful portrayals of their characters. The film is more about these character arcs than a man in a black fetish suit fighting crime; it's about the struggle of the only good man in a corrupt town trying to do the best he can, it's about the fall of a city's champion, and it's about a city bending to one madman's whim. The film is a battle to get through by virtue of the heavy nihilism on display, but despite the flaws it's a rewarding experience.

As i watched the movie, the special affects were great...(of course), But i was blown away @ Heaths portrayl of the JOKER.. It was as if the comics that I had read since i was a kid (9 yrs) upto now (46yrs) had truely came to life.
I really don't knw how this movie could be topped.
I have read DC , MARVEL, CHARLSTON & other brands for yrs, and this is the closest villian portrayl I have ever watched in a movie!

Great movie but more for adults and teens rather than young children, even though it appears as a "comic book" movie, the "Dark Knight" is more serious and menacing than the other recent comic book hero films such as Iron Man or Hulk.

Halfway in the movie I kept telling myself - this is just a movie.
Yes- I was entertained with all the gizmo - but the overpowering story here is about the inherent Evil of Batman's opponent (The Joker) who is not swayed by Money but rather is swayed by his ability to create Total Chaos and Fear in the lives of the innocent.
What did I take away from the movie? The Good has to fight Evil in order for Evil to be defeated. Evil will not walk away because of speeches and slogans.

I am a big fan of the Batman franchise, but this latest installment was, to me, just another movie. Too much emphasis on the criminals and not Batman, and not enough Bruce Wayne. I do commend the writers though on showcasing other characters besides the Dark Knight. I am glad I saw it, but I wasn't really blown away by the movie, except for the noise, which was probably the theatre's fault.

An excellent film told from multiple character perspectives. I was impressed by the direction and the overall "quiet" in the extremely violent scenes. The usual take is to overload the viewer with an onslaught of sound design. It was more "The Departed" than a typical superhero picture. Loved the thematic take on the complex story. Never mind that all the loose ends are not tied up neatly, it's more about the stuff people are really made of when faced with challenges in this chaotic, violent and somewhat frightening society we live in.

Excellent, fast paced movie!!!! Heath Ledger was marvelous and demented for a final role that was truly worth seeing.
Too bad the Creve Coeur AMC in St. Louis can't get their theaters cleaned. Too much soda and popcorn on the floors. They sent someone in to clean and the spilled soda was still there when we went in

this latest version of batman not only made the originals look god awful, but is probably the best superhero movie to date. my onlt dissapointment with the film is heath ledger. that idiot had to go and "accidently" od on drugs depriving the world of a talent that i didn't truly see until he not only embodied the true essence of the joker (making nichloson look like a character in a kids movie) but really did a better joker then i've ever seen, even in the comics. best movie of the year!

I really enjoyed this movie. It was well-acted (especially by Ledger) and well-written. Lots of great special effects and a lot of fun. Could've been tighter in the editing (dragged at the end) and should've been 20 minutes shorter. It was an experience!

It could have been worse. The highlight was the Joker himself. The rest of the movie seemed to be pointless special effects. If it had a plot I missed it. Most of the time I had no idea what was supposed to be going on. Still, it was somehow somewhat pleasant to watch, not really boring.

As a long time fan of Batman, I was had a white knuckle death grip the entire 2 hour and 40 minutes and still wanted MORE! This is a sequel to ends all sequels. Bale, without question is one of the best actors of our time. His portrayal of Wayne and Batman will cause Hollywood to never make another if he is not in it.
As far as the Heath Ledger as The Joker. It was a breath of fresh air when you leave a house fire. Ledger was AMAZING. It is truly sad that he is no longer with us. And also that The (true) Joker died with him. The future role of The Joker will be less then perfect without Ledger.
Not since Batman Begins has there been a comic book movie worth the cost of the used "BUY 4 FOR $20" DVDs at Blockbuster.
Now make that girl or boy fall madly in love with you by taking her or him to this movie. I wont promise anything but you might even get lucky.
