This film was so weak and flimsy, I can hardly believe it got produced. I appeared that several endings had been shot and the result was a grab bag of old footage strung together. Why would she write a break-up letter like that? Completely out of character. How could he stay away from his sick father for 5 years or more? Completely out of character. How did they get back together? The ending was completely incomprehenisible! What a directorial/editing mess. It would be nice to actually SEE the film that was advertised. Horrible waste of money. Every one in the theater was laughing at all the wrong moments and then you could hear the gasps and "what the _ _ _ _ happened? When the credits rolled. Stupid, stupid.
An excellent film told from multiple character perspectives. I was impressed by the direction and the overall "quiet" in the extremely violent scenes. The usual take is to overload the viewer with an onslaught of sound design. It was more "The Departed" than a typical superhero picture. Loved the thematic take on the complex story. Never mind that all the loose ends are not tied up neatly, it's more about the stuff people are really made of when faced with challenges in this chaotic, violent and somewhat frightening society we live in.
