I thought this movie was done very well considering the time allotted to tell the story. Clearly, like every book to movie creation, many bits and pieces were left out. But lets face it, even the extended cut dvds for Lord of the Rings couldn't fit everything into those movies. This movie told the story clean and quick and was very entertaining. New Moon was my least favorite of the four books but I thought this was done much better than Twilight, and I really enjoyed that movie.
Most people that are bashing this movie are comic book "fanboys" that are fanatical about how their hero is portrayed. Get over the fact that movie cater to an audience greater than that of the comic book collecting community. Hugh Jackman is as good as ever and Liev Schreiber was amazing. Go into the movie understanding that this is kind of Wolverine "Lite" by comparison to the comic. There isn't a trail of dismembered/disemboweled bodies left behind him, but that's ok. You don't need that to have an entertaining envisioning of Marvel's most popular superhero. And so you know, I've been collecting comics for over 20 years and have been a Wolverine fan since his full issue first appearance in Incredible Hulk #181.
From start to finish the movie kept your attention. Christian Bale proves again that he has earned the title of the best Batman to ever be on the big screen. Everything Bale does seems believeable. He's spot on Bruce Wayne/Batman.Heath Ledger was phenominal. He made you believe that a madman in a purple suit could be real and functional in the real-life underworld of organized crime. You didn't feel like it was some campy, over-the-top portrayal. For me it felt like he was truly insane with rage and twisted insight. We're all poorer for losing Ledger. Aaron Eckhart's role, for me, was straight out of the comics. I thought Tommy Lee Jones portrayal of Two-Face, all-beit not his fault, had ruined the character, Eckhart brought it to life. I could have watched the whole movie with him as the main villian. He was excellent. I'd say more but I don't want to give away any spoiler's. Easily a 5-star movie, totally not just hype.
