Dark Knight is right. This movie was dark, but it was awesome! I am a huge Heath fan and boy did he outdo himself this time! It is sad to think about what an amazing actor the world has lost. I truly believed he was a raving lunatic!
The movie was intense, I was so involved that it didn't even seem to last the whole 2.5 hours, the time flew so quickly.
My only complaint is the silly "growling" voice that Christain used in the bat costume. It seemed as if he were perpetually constipated or had something stuck in his throat!
Overall, I would definitely recommend this movie.

Although Batman Begins was indeed good the Dark Knight was amazing. Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was superb and he will always be remembered for it. The films length is daunting but overall the movie keeps on moving at a fast pace and it seems nothing like 2 and a half hours.

I dont share the same experiences as most of the rest of the people that have rated the movie. It was pretty hyped. Ledger played an excellent Joker, hands down.
The movie was long, lots of explosive scenes, I almost gave it a 3 but a 4 will due. For me, with as much hype as the movie had there should have been something thats never been done before. Like when the Matrix first came out. Nothing like that had ever been done! The Dark Knight is a great movie.
But I believe it could have been better. The 4 other people I went with share the same opinion. We have more fun at Sex and the City.

I kept hearing about the length of the film and how it was drawn out. Yes, the movie was a lengthy one, but it was entertaining throughout. At no point did I look at my watch in anxiety. The story was great, the acting was great and it was just all around fun to watch. I am looking forward to more.

I had no interest in another Batman movie and no intension of ever watching this movie. I went to this movie just for something to do to fill a Saturday night. I must say I was pleasantly surprised and impressed and will gladly recommend this movie to anyone.
Each character was almost perfectly cast and did a great job in their roles. This is one movie where all the hype is definitely deserved.

Maybe in the last 3 years. This film is dark and psychologically twisted. Parents should think twice before taking the kids, truly nightmare potential. Heath Ledger owns the role of the Joker. I can't imagine a better performance by anyone. In fact, I'm having a hard time envisioning how they will ever top this episode. The movie is long but not tiresome. I saw it yesterday and could go again today. It's like a thrill ride you just keep getting in line to ride again and again. Visually rich, the score is dramatic, mood setting and huge. Batman Begins was excellent, especially compared to the cartoony films that were originally put out. This movie is a whole other level.

Perhaps most do not care about the conventions of plot and narrative and certainly The Dark Knight is beautiful to behold and technically brilliant. And, Heath Ledger's jaw manipulating make-up wearing dirty hair teasing performance is Shakespearean in its ambition and creepiness. But, why is it that the story is so confused, what happens to the Asian fellow? Why to we have to watch the DA flip that darn coin (or coins) so many darn times? Does the fact of of the girl's death really justify the DA loosing his nut given that he is the one most incorruptible? This was a great amusement ride but unfortunately it was a tad too long.

This is Batman...my son is obsessed with the comics and subsequently I have gotten to know the characters quite well too. This movie portrayed Batman, the villains, and the city of Gotham so well and so close to the dark content of the comic books. And of course, Heath Ledger's performance was disturbingly wonderful. A great film to be swept away by.

Though a little long, this movie was overall outstanding and by far the best of the Batman movies. Heath Ledger's performance was incredible as was Christian Bale's. The make up and special effects, especially for Harvey Dent (a.k.a. Two Face), were first rate (not to mention extremely creepy).

The movie was very good. I think it's been more than a little overhyped, however. I heard one review where they said all they could do was "stagger" out of the theater when it was over, they were so in awe. OK... it wasn't THAT fantastic. But it was very entertaining. The special effects were great. However the story line was distractingly disjointed in places and the "new" Rachel was bland. And Heath Ledger as the Joker was so brilliant in his portrayal that he badly upstaged Christian Bale's Batman. You found yourself waiting and anticipating the Joker's scenes instead of Batman's. All in all, a fun ride and well worth every dollar to see.

"Dark" is definitely the operative word, here. This movie registered a solid 7.0 on the doom-and-gloom scale, rendering my wife and me utterly drained and depressed by the end. Where's the fun? This makes the Michael Keaton Batman movies seem positively goofy, but at least soulful, by comparison. To its credit, the film does have a faint moral message buried deep down in its black heart, if you're careful to sift through all the rubble left in its ultra-violent and destructive wake. But it still might suck out any remaining faith you had left in humanity. And it certainly could leave you dreading the future of "crowd-pleasing" blockbusters, if it's any indication of where they're headed and of the crowd they're hoping to please.

This movie was incredible! From the first moments on, it was gripping and intense. Be prepared for breathtaking and heart pounding action and intensity. There were times I had a death grip on my husband's arm, and several times I shouted out in surprise and fright. Although it's a long movie, the time goes by quickly.. I looked at my watch a few times, just because I didn't want it to end! I will definitely see it again.

Batman does not chance upon his "Superheroism", unlike other superheros. He is born from the people, for the people. What I love about this series is that, this point is never forgotten. The array of emotions on display promoting this point is brilliant !!
Heath Ledger - Joker - he holds you in a trance for the whole show. Joker's opponents - batman, Gotham's inhabitants - are put to test in having to chose right over wrong in situations of utter desperation. His performance is the focal point of the film.
Simply Brilliant movie - Best Superhero series I have seen, hands down !!

This was my second time seeing this movie and it was very helpful to see it twice as many things that I missed in the first almost frantic viewing made much more sense. What I took away the second time is how much angrier Batman is in this movie. He almost loses control, even though severely provoked, several times which is surprising. He is not so much moody as he is just rage-filled. What made it more disturbing the second time is, now that you know the plot, you see the deliberate manipulations of the Joker. Heath Ledger's performance is truly amazing but so disturbing in its randomless need for chaos. I loved this movie and seeing it twice made plot points so clear. However, I was unprepared for the thought-provoking aftermath. I highly recommend this movie but you may be surprised as an adult how it will make you think. This Is Not a Childrens Movie. It is too dark and while the violence is often times inferred rather that shown it shows the dark side of all the characters.

I don't know how he did it but Mr Ledger managed to embody the whole history of The Joker, The Fool and The Trickster and probably every violently mislabeled "psychotic serial killer" the world has ever seen. He made tangible the sickening and terrible attraction of the Lord of Chaos. The films is Mr Ledger's.
Without him The Dark Knight would have been another, I'm sure, very successful Summer blockbusting, violent, action bolstered, explosion fired, hallucination CGI fueled and stunt man's dream.
With him, it is the best movie ever made.
It is his film.
My questions:
How can they follow this?
Who can fill those enormous Clown Shoes?
I have my suspicions that this will be possible: they will follow it; someone else will give us their best shot; but it will have been Mr Ledger's absolutely truthful an fearless performance that will have inspired.
Incidentally, Jack has been very quiet about all this hasn't he.

Very dark, but enjoyable movie. Keith Ledger's performance is very good and should definitely put him up for an oscar. The demise of his character and his real life ending are eerily similar and make the movie that much haunting. Do not recommend for small kids...Movie didn't need to be as long as it was to be point across, but it's worth the effort.

My motivation for seeing this movie was to see Heath Ledger's performance and it was everything I expected and more. He was both daunting and comic at the same time. The role could not have been performed better. His death is a reminder of James Dean in the '50s - on the road to be a top performer. As for the movie itself, I think the last 40 minutes could have been cut and no one would be the wiser. Overall good.
