I was prepared to say that this movie was all hype because of Heath Ledger's death but it was truly one of the best movies that I have seen in a long time. Heath Ledger brought The Joker to life in a way that surpassed all comic book villains in the past.

not too long as I've heard from many. The action sequences were not over the top, and short lived in many cases. Bale and Ledger were fantastic and enjoyable together as well as individual characters. I'd definitely see it again and enjoyed this over all others in the Batman series to date.

Great film.. have to see this on the big screen. I would be shocked if this film does not beat out Titanic as the biggest money maker in history. It is already have way there and its only be out a couple weeks.

Loved Heath Ledger as the Joker, he was incredible! Will watch for the 3rd time tonight, and maybe a 4th and 5th later...just to see the Joker again! Christian Bale is handsome and sexy! The story was nice and the movie was great overall. Will buy the DVD.

Heath Ledger was outstanding. So was Gary Oldman. Christian Bale is certainly the best of the Bat men. Loved the cycle, it does some really cool moves. I also loved the bat computer. A little too long and a little too preachy, but overall, the best of the Bat Man franchise so far. I'd love to see a third. They have really stepped it up a notch with the villains, the darkness, Lusius Fox and Michael Cain is even a surprising step up in Alfred.
What they need though is an editor. The film dragged a little at times because they spent so much time setting up and working out all the plot twists and turns. About 1 too many jeopardy scenes. No problem with killing off a heroin or multiple villains, but one less major jeopardy would have made it tighter.

The loss of Heath Ledger has really become a big part of the story of the making of this movie. Let us not forget that Ledger's final performance was one of the most gripping of his career. Ledger brought an intensity to the Joker that is unmatched. Nicholson's Joker was fabulous, but takes the role in a different direction.
There is a little whimsy in this Joker, but the honest truth is that he comes across as the intense, disturbed, choas hungry villain that haunts Bob Kane's comics. His disappearing pencil trick is fairly impressive too.
Still and all, Bale's Batman is well played, but the "batman voice" is a little over the top, still. Also, the arrival of Harvey Dent, in all of his duality, is almost lost in the pre-movie hype, but is one of the great performances in the film.

I had some great expectations of this movie, and while most people are disappointed after watching a movie with those preconceptions, I however wasn't.
Heath Ledger played the Joker brilliantly. He was the crazy, neurotic yet at times he broke that mystery with a sense of humor every now and then.
The movie left a crowded theater speechless and I wouldn't mind watching it a few more times again. Only thing is try to catch an earlier showing that 11. It's a 2 and a half hour long movie, you might get too tired but you desperately want to keep watching!

This is an exciting movie. My hat is off to all the actors who have to play a character that has been played by some excellent actors already. Batman and The Joker really made them their own. Even bringing Two Face! This was an awsome movie! You should see it even if you have never liked Batman Movies in the past. This one stands on it's own greatness.

The Dark Knight is not just a great super hero movie but an excellent movie in general. As it was, Batman Begins was a great movie on its own. To be able to top that one was going to be tough, as it is with all sequels, but they certainly pulled it off with the Dark Knight. Great performance by Christian Bale as was expected after the first movie, and an incredible version of the Joker by Heath Ledger. Also great work by the supporting cast; Oldman, Freeman, Caine, and Eckhart. These two movies are by far the best and truest portrayals of a superhero brought to the big screen. The Dark Knight truly captures what Batman is all about and the ending couldn't have been more perfect in achieving that. The bar has been set high for a third movie but based on these two the franchise is in very capable hands that can pull it off.

I have seen all of the Batman movies several times. As a child I was an avid Batman/ DC comic reader.
After seeing this movie, I feel that Bob Kane (creator of Batman) would be proud of the work done here.
Heath Ledger's portrayal of Joker is phenominal! Exactly as he was in the comics (crazy, dark, creepy, freakin' nuts!).
Christian Bale as Batman wasn't my first choice when I heard they were filming another movie, but he proved to me that he was worthy of the role. His interpretaion of the character was probably the my favorite.
Overall, this will definitely be a MUST HAVE addition to my DVD/ Blu-Ray collection when it is released.
If you have the opportinity to see this one in the theaters, I highly recommend it. You'll be sorry if you don't!...

I have seen quite a few movies this year and this movie is by far the best so far. To me the performance by Heath Ledger and Christian Bale both, is Oscar worthy. The movie had me excited for 2.5 hours and wanting more as I walked out of the theatre.
I cant wait to talk to people about this movie. The special effects were impeccable. I am sure they used CGI to create alot of the effects, but it wasn't near as noticeable as Indiana Jones, or Journey to the Center of the Earth.
So in my book it's a winner and one I will definately tell people to see.

In this film the sound and visual effects are astonishing, heath ledger was an excellent performance every moment in the film. Batman or should I say The Dark Night was a spectacular piece of art and if you miss this movie you are missing a piece of history.

The action, sequence of events, special effects, & characters are hands down, phenomenal! Each character is so well portrayed & no questions asked, Heath Ledger as the joker was extremely different than Jack Nicholson's version. While both Nicholson & Ledger play the villian, Ledger's character is disturbing & psychotic. He is a true mad man & his character is highly entertaining! In 2.5 hours, this movie packs in more action than I've seen to date & the story line will captivate you. I will be seeing it again because it moves rather quickly so I am sure I missed some details, but all in all, this is a must see! My only complaint is the actress selected to play "Rachel", Maggie Gyllenhaal. I don't think she has much to offer in a movie of this caliber & her character is forgettable in my opinion. Other than that, A+ in my book!

The Dark Knight was the most anticipated movie of 2008. I felt it absolutely delivered and lived up to the hype on all levels. Stellar performances by all actors. However; Ledger's maniacally sinister Joker stole the show by far. I simply Loved this movie!
Very well written film portraying the complete morality and thin line between good versus evil. Batman has truly come a very long way from the "kiddie" days of Tim Burton's films. This is the Batman I've always envisioned. Christian Bale is again the best Batman ever. Great actor, very intense and solid delivery of a dark hero with a big heart. I Loved the new Batcycle and the Bat-Sonar. Excellent ultra-realistic special effects. I plan to see this movie again in IMAX. The 2.5 hrs runtime is a non-issue. Every scene is gripping. Awesome movie ! Go see this movie. You'll be glad you did.

These gentlemen (in or out of character) are the strength of the film. Christian Bale suffices as the Batman, but his pseudo-WWE voice grates on the senses in an obvious strain on the vocal chords.
Heath Ledger has been a favorite actor since "Ten things..." and truly immersed his talents and soul into the true character of the Joker. I have mourned the loss of the man as well as the actor. By leaving the Joker hanging by an ankle in midair smacks of a sequel. Who, in his right mind, would attempt to follow Ledger in this role? Definitely worthy of the posthumous Academy Award!
I would watch Michael Caine read the London phone book, but his portrayal of Alfred is impeccable. Morgan Freeman? Holy Cool, Batman! As always, unflappable and totally spot-on. Aaron Eckhart is exemplary as Harvey Dent... exactly as I would have cast the role after decades of comic book reading. And Gary Oldman? Jim Gordon to the nth degree. All in all, great casting, superlative special effects, and a story-line that is easy to follow.
But Christian Bale? Handsome, true. Michael Keaton? Never in your wildest dreams!

Last night I had the pleasure of seeing "The Dark Knight". I'm a fan of Christian Bale as Batman, but the thing I was craving was Heath Ledger as The Joker. The film shows a side of Heath Ledger that probably no one knew. Therefore, he immortalized the seriously sick and twisted side of The Joker. Although Jack Nicholson was the first, Heath Ledger was the best. Another excellent part of the film was the character of "Two Face". The dark side of "Harvey Dent" was completely unforgiving.  The special effects alone for that character was enough to disturb you. Not for children but for Batman fans a must!!!
