I was so skeptical when I heard about this movie. I thought come on just another cheesy movie. But all my friends kept saying it's good movie. So I took my wife and went to see it in 3D. Let me tell you something. I think it's one of the best movies I have seen in long time! Some people say it's too long I think it's right time to let you feel like you are really there. Emotionally it was so great and so beautiful. Makes you think twice about the way we live our lives on earth. Take your kids and go see it. You would love it if you have heart.

Our entire family went to see Avatar on Christmas weekend. We came out of theater simply going "WOW!" As to complaints that the plot and dialogue are "predictable," that's because the human race hasn't yet learned an essential lesson: how to live in harmony with our planet. When Jake Sully says, "They killed their mother," the meaning of that sentence for us now was like a knife to my heart. I wish everyone on Earth could watch "Avatar" and learn to "see" themselves and one another as clearly as the Na'vi. Absolutely outstanding movie.

Rarely do science fiction films grip, exhilarate, and give deeper meaning to our lives the way in which Avatar triumphed at the box office these past two weeks. Rightfully so, James Cameron has crafted one of the most unique and entertaining films of our lifetime. Sure, Cameron borrows elements from Aliens, Dances With Wolves, and many other rich influences but the final product will leave you astonished and provoked at the same time. Avatar is a movie that everyone should watch; especially those longing for a sci-fi allegory that touches on themes from imperialism, love, nature, and peace. Considering I saw the 2-D version, I cannot fully comment on the visual aesthetic but it was stunning and jaw-dropping nonetheless.

Great experience. Obvious environmental preaching didn't bother me as I knew it would be there. Sit back and enjoy the stunning visuals and superb action sequences. I'm planning on going back to see it in 3D.

Except for the obvious anti-capitalism, anti-american, anti-war, ultragreen tree-hugger viewpoint of this movie, it was pretty good.
Graphics were great, story line was entertaining. But come on. We all know that global warming is a hoax. A few anti-American, anti-capitalists have cooked the books to make us think we're killing the planet. And in Avatar, we're now out to kill the next planet. Let's get real. It's snowing in Copenhagen, yet we're freaking out over global warming. Get a life!
And how about being grateful for the amazing system that allows people like Sigourney Weaver to become multi-multi-millionaires. So, like I said, the movie was good, not great. Could have been great if the politics were taken out.

The main star of Avatar, and this should come as no surprise, is the 3D and special effects. Cameron creates a truly immersive movie going experience. The visuals of Pandora are not only breathtaking beautiful, but breathtakingly realistic. The 3D gimmicks are in there, but are far more subtle than one might expect. The true brilliance is when there are ashes falling from the sky, or small creatures flying in front of your face and you feel the urge to brush them away. The story line is somewhat predictable, but you don’t go to a James Cameron movie for a multifaceted story line that is going to foster some deep seated spiritual awakening. You go to it to be wowed. Avatar is a Wow for sure.

Avatar had wonderful graphics, great characters and a story that moved you. However, the story bore strong comparison with other familiar tales - mix the American Indian story of Pocahontas with Lord of the Rings (when all clans/creatures come to aid in the battle for the homeland) and that's what I was thinking the entire time. All in our group (teens to adults) loved it though. You couldn't help but root for the native population in the end. A winner of a movie.

James Cameron has returned from the "Abyss" which was "Titanic". While "Avatar" was an improvement and contained some amazing improvements and work in the realm of CG special effects, the plot and characters were not a deviation from the Hollywood norm. I felt like I was watching "Dances with Wolves" + "The Matrix" + "Fern Gully" most of the time.

Please note, I didn't see the 3-D version. That said, after all the hoopla I was very disappointed with the movie. The story line was predictable, the dialogue predictable and the ending—you guessed it —predictable. The visuals were beautiful, but didn't overcome the movie's other shortcomings.
I would recommend this for 12 year olds. It will all seem new and wonderful to a young audience.

This movie was worth every dollar spent for admission. This movie was so fascinating and interesting that it kept your attention so well that you couldn't tell that it was almost 2 3/4 hours in length. The plot was excellent, the characters were outstanding and it also had great special effects. It was a drama, a fantasy (science fiction) movie, and a love story all in one. I look forward and can't wait to seeing the sequel to this film.

I enjoyed the movie and it lived up to it's billing. However, I cannot get past the 400 million dollar price tag which to me is obscene.

With a 3D movie there is often the tendency to create unnecessary 3D effects such as throwing something or other at the viewer. James Cameron has nicely avoided the 3D theatrics and used depth to make a much more natural experience. Story wise, this film is OK, but if you take the 3D aspect away I'm not sure it would be that great a film. Too often the characters are caricatures, not developed very much and prone to act and say things that seem appropriate only in a movie directed toward younger people not yet learned about how real people act and behave.

The movie was wonderful and the CGI effects were great. James Cameron far exceeded my already high expectations. The actors were believable and the story line was invigorating. Would enthusiastically recommend for all futuristic/adventure fans.

This was an astounding movie. In terms of shear value as a type of disruptive innovation, I would put this on the par with Cinerama and IMAX technologies.
Movies will never be the same for me.
Although following a classic good/evil storyline, the movie flows well and presents modern day moral problems in a very believable but acceptable (via science fiction) format, much like the original Star Trek series.
Hurray for for the return of cutting edge, adventurous film making.

I went in not expecting much as they really didn't advertise this movie much, but it had a lot of recent hype. I was blown away by how incredible this movie was. I left the theater thinking, did I just see what I thought I saw? It wasn't just the best movie I've ever seen. It was like seeing a movie for the first time. A level of satisfaction I never thought I'd have from a movie. The story was great, message great, dialogue was very real and uncomplicated even exagerated, but that is what you want in a movie. I have already been back to see it again. The 3D is incredible. Don't miss this movie while it is in 3D. It is truly a priceless experience.
