The main star of Avatar, and this should come as no surprise, is the 3D and special effects. Cameron creates a truly immersive movie going experience. The visuals of Pandora are not only breathtaking beautiful, but breathtakingly realistic. The 3D gimmicks are in there, but are far more subtle than one might expect. The true brilliance is when there are ashes falling from the sky, or small creatures flying in front of your face and you feel the urge to brush them away. The story line is somewhat predictable, but you don’t go to a James Cameron movie for a multifaceted story line that is going to foster some deep seated spiritual awakening. You go to it to be wowed. Avatar is a Wow for sure.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
