James Cameron is a mastermind and his latest journey to the heart of humanity begins in a distant planet known as Pandora. Although I did see the film in 2-D and was thoroughly impressed, the IMAX experience trumped that effort and felt almost surreal at times. Characters, nature, exotic locales all come to life in breath-taking sequences that feel akin to an epic sci-fi roller-coaster. Not only do I recommend this to the casual moviegoer but also to those who have seen Avatar in 2-D. You will not regret it. Bravo James Cameron!
Rarely do science fiction films grip, exhilarate, and give deeper meaning to our lives the way in which Avatar triumphed at the box office these past two weeks. Rightfully so, James Cameron has crafted one of the most unique and entertaining films of our lifetime. Sure, Cameron borrows elements from Aliens, Dances With Wolves, and many other rich influences but the final product will leave you astonished and provoked at the same time. Avatar is a movie that everyone should watch; especially those longing for a sci-fi allegory that touches on themes from imperialism, love, nature, and peace. Considering I saw the 2-D version, I cannot fully comment on the visual aesthetic but it was stunning and jaw-dropping nonetheless.
