Though I had doubts from the shabby previews, I have to admit, this movie was a true gem.
Quite probably the best of all the Star Trek movies to date. The plot was a little less involved than in past movies, however, it wasn't lacking. The special effects were excellent.
There was one fight sequence that felt completely disconnected, as if they were trying too hard to snub technology.
Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and I would recommend it to any and all.

Despite some illogical sequences, this is the finest of all Trek movies.
After watching it, I experienced what can only be described as ululation, and joy. A movie has finally been made to live up to Trek's potential.

The movie was simply amazing.I liked the way that JJ Abrams combined the two generations(1960's uniforms with modern movie ship setting)to make one awesome movie experience.I also liked the choice of actors for the movie.Karl Urban did a great "Bones".Simon Pegg did very well as Scotty.Zachary Quinto did very well as Spock.Leonard Nimoy would be proud.I'm definitely getting it on DVD.

Many fanboys were probably concerned about a reboot of this most hallowed of franchise, but I gotta say: J.J. Abrams & Co. pulled it off!
Go see this film even if you're not into Star Trek! No better time to jump aboard the Star Trek train than now with this movie!

I was curious if the New Star Trek would live up to the hype and it did. The Pacing was much like a Star Wars movie with two tales being told from their respective origins. Kirk and Spock arrive on the Enterprise albeit through much different paths. They were true to the Christopher Pike story line and much of what was originally thought up by Gene Roddenbury.
The visuals are quite impressive and they pay their respects along the way to the original. Stand out performances include Karl Urban as Mccoy, and Simon Pegg as Scotty. Seeing John Cho aka Harold take on Sulu was a nice get also.
I don't want to give away plot, it was that good.

This was a really great Star Trek movie. It pays homage to the original series and doesn't try to overly "wow" the audience with the technology of the Star Trek era. The casting is great and the music rocks. I can't wait to see if they make more with this cast!

Now a new reboot of the series is in theatres, and I can't tell you how pleased I am. Who ever thought of the idea of not only a time travel story, but a alternate universe story, was a genius. Everything was not exactly like the original series, but the alternate universe story line went a long way to explain the differences. I feel, while the actors weren't of course the originals, they captured the feel of the originals pretty darn close, Speaking of Spock, I feel he finally gets the final bow he deserved since Generations, and he ties the new movie to the old series very nicely.

My wife and I loved this film. The intro alone is breathtaking- cannot wait to see more. If we had one gripe it would be that the villain is pretty one-dimensional, but it did not take away from our enjoyment of the film. You do not need to be a Star Trek fan to love this movie, but there are some great things thrown in for those of us who do have enjoyed the Star Trek films in the past.

I will tell you right now. If you are a 40 something TOS fan wanting to see Fattner, I mean Shatner, on the screen again, watch your old ST movies. THIS IS NOT YOUR FATHER'S STAR TREK. How can people have heard all the hype and then complain that it doesn't ring true to the original. PROBABLY BECAUSE THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL SERIES. No one wants to see a fat under acheiving, barely coherent old man as captain of the most legendary ship in the fleet. GET OVER IT OLD GUYS! THIS AINT FOR YOU!

In my opinion, this movie lives up to the hype, and then some. Well done. Hopefully the hardcore fan base doesn't get too upset over the mainstream-ization of the series.
The only bad thing I can say about this movie is that it featured a little too much Spock, but that's really not so bad.
Probably the best cast I've ever seen put together. Bravo.

I found this movie excellent! The story was well written, with very well developed characters. It didn't feel like they had to "trump up" the pretense for the story, and it clearly opened up new horizons for the series.
I will say that after the movie, I felt like taking on the world! The theme was exciting, as was the feeling that this is the start of something new and exciting!
I won't spoil the movie for you, but I will say that you should go see this flick as soon as you can!

The new Star Trek isn't perfect, but it is amazing. The characters are very well performed, it's beautiful to watch, and it's very entertaining. I've been a Trek fan for a very long time, and I say let's all lay off the nitpicking for a change. I saw this with a non-Trekker friend who said it was the most entertaining film he'd seen in months. See it, and take a couple of friends.

As a long time Star Trek fan, I generally liked this movie. The special effects were outstanding and easily the best ever in any Trek film. The new actors portraying the crew all turned in solid performances. The comedy was a bit forced though and the ending kind of rushed. The movie also seemed to drag a bit in some spots. But I am optimistic about the sequels and happy to see Trek back on the big screen.

This is the best Star Trek Movie I have seen yet, and I've seen them all! I am not sure how this will lead the storyline of the franchise now that tons of things have been changed due to the timeline being modified, but it seems as if fate still managed to bring the crew together! Go see it and become completely satisfied!

What a pleasure the entire movie-watching experience was today. I loved everything about it. I will see this movie again and own it when it becomes available.
The character backstories were fun and true to the original series and beyond. The actors did a great job at creating the younger versions of characters we've 'known' for a long time. Seeing Nimoy in this role again was spectacular - as always.
It's one of the best new movies I've seen in years. People stood up in the theater and applauded at the end. It's been a long time since that happened.

It was about time that this over 40 yr series would get a re-boot and who else could do it other than the wunderkind of "Alias" & "Lost", JJ Abrams? The special effects are fine but again what he has attained from the original are the relationships which was its appeal. In fact, Zachary Quinto (Heroes) practically walks off with the movie as the young Spock and the luscious Zoe Saldana is a vision as Uhura. If you're a Trekkie (like me) or a non-Trekkie who likes good si-fi, you'll love this film. Probably the best summer movie out for now until maybe "Terminator Salvation".

I loved it. It took plots from the series and build an alternate time line. It showed all the characters that we liked in ST as young and a little out of control. The catchphrases were all there...Just Loved It.

I was expecting another boring Star Trek movie but, this movie blew me away. This was by far the bes prequel since the last of the Star Wars prequels. The characters are on point. It you have watch Star Trek the original you would know this movie makes total sense. Spock stole the showed. Wow, Spock has a romance scene. Spock gets girls. Total Shocker!! The whole Ramulans, were awsome. This movie was action pack, not one boring scence. Action, Action, suspense, romance, and HELLA Drama!!!! This movie was off the chain. You have to see it. LOVE, LOVE , LOVE it. Its a MUST SEE!!!!!! I am a true movie watcher. Certife and all. This movie was AWSOME.

The latest Star Trek movie is a fun, fast paced and intersting look at the original characters first years in Starfleet. The movie mixes just the right amount of character backstory, technology, star ship battles sci-fi lore to make this a great movie.
JJ Abrahms take on the franchise is well done and could be one of his best films ever. I thought the movie pace was just right, the story line believable (as best you can get with sci-fi), and there was some good humor (but not too much). This is a great movie and for the most part very famliy friendly.
I recommend this movie to anyone whol loves sci-fi, Star Trek or just a good solid movie.

Seen all the Star Trek series and movies. This one I have to say is one of the best sci fi I have seen in awhile. Will go to see this movie again before it gets off the big screen. Well written. Characters are tops. This new crew did the old crew justice. Excellent in my book.
