This movie was better than I expected. Saw previews for it last year and was not overly excited to see it however being a Star Trek fan I just had to. I loved how they introduced all the characters and showed us how they ended up together. It was action packed and although you knew how it was going to end it was still exciting to see it all come together. I hope it leads to more Star Trek movies in the future. I think the interest in Star Trek will be revived as more people see the movie.

This was such a fabulous movie, wall to wall action, no lull in excitement from start to finish. Lots of references and nods to the original series and the classic characters were introduced to us gradually throughout, in a new and interesting way. This was the first Star Wars experience for my teenage daughter, and although she didn't understand the references she loved the movie too. Probably due to the exceedingly good looking and charismatic Jim Kirk!!!

The new actors pull off the roles like they were the the original crew. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. As a Star Trek fan you will feel like you have returned home, but if you are not a fan you soon will be as the movie end leaving you wanting more.

I have to say, I was very skeptical about the new Star Trek, Very skeptical. I grew up with these characters, know there history, love all of the movies and TV shows (except Star Trek 5.) That being said this was a great movie. I will admit the first half I was not enjoying it at all. Mostly my stubborn prejudices, against anyone changing the Star Trek franchise. The first half is awesome but will upset older Trek fans. But the payoff is worth it and I predict that future viewings will make this movie even more enjoyable. Go see this movie, and bring your friends who have never seen Star Trek before they will love it!

I am a fan of most of the old shows. I loved the movie. I went to see it cuz its star trek, but I wasn't expecting much. I was blown away by the weave of old & new. I found myself laughing, chuckling, and wowing.
I can't tell you if youd like it if your NOT a fa n of Star Trek, but I can tell you if you liked most of the old shows, youll like this one. Boldly go where youve been before! Its worth the ticket price. I may buy the DVD!

I am a big Star Trek fan and was not originally excited about this movie. I'm so glad I went to see it! The actors did a great job becoming the original characters (especially Bones!) I loved that they kept the original sounds and didn't make the technology more advanced than the original series (Lucas should take note). This was a fantastic movie and one I will add to my library.

Super Effects, Great Humor to characters we grew up with. Overall I'd say most Star Trek fans will like this movie. I thought the story was weak in some areas. By this I mean, there's a conflict then a space battle some plot twists another space battle and then all is well. In the end if you enjoy Star Trek you'll enjoy this movie.

This isn't your grandpa's Star Trek. The plot is serious - the destruction of the the federation - the action is big, but the film is also light-hearted at times and even funny. It connects well to the original series enough to please the the serious trekkie (the Kirk, Spock, Ohura, McCoy, Solo, etc. characters are believable), while capturing the attention of a whole new generation of fans. In that regard, it has the look and feel of other large-scale sci-films like Transformers, Independence Day, etc. A clear winner and likely more films to come.

I went into this film with a great deal of...trepidation, however, I was pleasantly surprised. They changed so much of the canon, that I wasn't sure how they would explain it, but it was wrapped up in two little words. That was awesome. Nice way to start a new movie series without making all our hours of viewing in the last 4 decades a complete waste. Nice action, nice plot, great dialogue and GREAT casting.

I'm a hardcore Trekker...three sons all named after Trek captains....went to this yesterday with mixed feelings of how I'd react about new faces on characters concreted in my mind from the past...well, NO MORE mixed feelings...THIS WAS A TERRIFIC MOVIE....actors taking the seasoned reigns with so much gusto, I was just amazed. Very talented directing and acting...special effects to make you hold out for the bathroom run! The casting director needed a BONUS for collecting a group of actors that blended beautifully.....they reminded you of their characters without making fun of them....I left the theater with a HUGE GRIN on my face! 'Nuff Said! GO SEE IT!

In my opinion, JJ Abrams nailed it. This Star Trek movie was just about perfect (and while I'm a long-time fan, I'm not a trekkie). It was exciting, funny, serious and light. The premise is brilliant because now they can move foward in this alternate reality and have as many movies/shows as they want without infringing on the original shows....

This movie not only paid homage to the original series but several of the better made Trek movies. Even with an almost entirely new cast this one rises right near the top of all Trek movies. This movie stands on it's own, the plot and story line are complete and riveting. The cast is excellent, their likeness to the tv series original players is amazing. The scenes and effects are dazzling. Most of all, it was fun to experience in IMAX, and seeing my old friend characters in their 'pre-star fleet' days was priceless.

Having grown up with the original Star Trek series and subsequent movies, I was skeptical at first about this one.
I absolutely loved the character development, the relationship development and the character histories. Although (spoiler alert!) it appears to be an alternate character history, it really does help understand Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scottie, Sulu, Chekov and Uhuru better. I would recommend this for both old and new Star Trek fans. This is a great movie to kick off the summer season!

Great special effects, believable story line. Establishing a link as a prequel. Very few plot holes although the time travel paradox dilemma always bothers me... Spock, the elder and Spock now steal the show. A very FUN movie, sure to be an early summer blockbuster.

J. J. Abrams and crew had their own no-win scenario to beat in making a Star Trek movie starring the "original series" crew that neither descends into self-parody nor fails to deliver an active, engaging, and fun movie experience. And to set it up so that the established Trek canon is a help and not a hinderance to future sequels is a master stroke. This film is a delight both to old Trekkies and those who will be Trekkies when they leave the theatre!
