Having read the book Charlie St. Cloud, I had high expectations. And to be honest, I liked this movie! It is a difficult story to tell because it has to do a lot with your beliefs about life after death and your own willingness to believe. In order to create a movie from this story line a lot had to be changed and lets be honest many may find parts cheesy. However I think Zac Efron was excellent. I think the previews should have better portrayed the themes of the movie such as death and not letting go because they highlighted too much of the romance. Overall great movie but an even better book!

I was pleasantly surprised by the acting talent of Zac Efron. From a product of High School Musical, I was a little nervous but he pulled it off very well and his acting was great. The tears scenes were performed well. Easy on the eyes too!

The powerful spiritual emotions are lost and the opportunity to include the action-packed scenes of danger on the ocean was omitted. The book needs the tissues, the movie does not.

On the positive side we can see that Zac Efron is gaining in the acting chops area. He's pretty dog-gone good in this film. We are looking forward to seeing more of him in the future. That said Zac is really the best thing in this movie. A couple of veteran actors are wasted in near throw-away roles. There is very little "meat" on these "movie bones". This is more of what one would expect from a Hallmark TV movie. Nothing so wrong with that except we want more substance from a theatrical release. Skip or rent in a couple of months.

I walked into the theater thinking, "Oh joy, Zac Efron, maybe I will catch a nap". But after seeing his acting chops in 17 Again I settled in to watch at least the first 15 minutes. By the end of the movie I had cried enough to have a headache and felt the kid has got talent. The writing and directing of the film gave it depth even if the plot was a bit unbelievable ala "The 6th Sense" but all impossibilities aside, I loved the movie. 2 thumbs up.

They only thing I can really say about this movie is that I that it was good. Not more, not less. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't been disturbed by the others in the theater who kept laughing at inappropriate places. Very annoying. Zac delivers a great performance and is earning brownie points as an real actor. The story was good however it fails to be executed to its full extent. It felt a bit laggy at times and emotions where cut short.
However the nice twist and surprises for those who haven't read the book will keep the story interesting.
Over all a great movie to watch and doesn't disappoint. Just wished they would have evolved the story a bit more.

My first impression was that this was going to be one of those tear jerker movies. I don't like depressing movies that make you walk out feeling sad. This movie wasn't one of those. It was a feel good movie. I would recommend it.

I have to say, when i first saw this movie advertised...I laughed. I couldn't get past the name, the worst name for a movie, that I still stand by. I went and saw the movie last night with a female friend, as I'm sure most of the guys reviewing this movie did, I have to say it wasn't terrible. It's probably not a movie I'll be stoked for on DVD, but it wasn't a waste of time either. Zac Efron can act, he shows it pretty well in Charlie St. Cloud. Overall I'd recommend it someone.

This movie is horrible. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IT. No point and Zac Efron is a terrible actor. This movie made me want to go poop in my mouth. It feels like vinegar going down. The close ups of "Charlie" burn the eyes.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
