this was a nice attempt to tell a good tale, but it failed in many ways, my mom and i, not screenwriters at all, figured out how to do it better, and we're amateurs! but the guy who told us about it, my step-dad, loved it!! dan the film critic
this is a real BLAST! a way for kumar to re-enter hollywood with the respect he deserves! this flick rocks, and too bad it was premiered too early for it to be seen as the holiday classic it is, just have to wait until it becomes a dvd cult hit, so it gets the accolades it so richly deserves!
SEE IT NOW!
my fave flicks this year so far:
1. SINGHAM, hands down! 2. harold and kumar...IN 3D!!! 3. harry potter number whatever
this is one of the best of the year! my brother, my mother, my step-dad, my sis-in-law, me, we all loved it when we wnt last night! GO SEE IT! my best so far: 1. singham 2. dolphin tale GO NOW! danny
My mother, who never read any of the books, or saw any of the flicks, went to see the midnight screening of it with me and my sister, experts in harry, and she loved it except thought it should not have been in 3d, even though we saw it at elgin fox's ultrascreen, 75 by 50 ft. "the widescreen IMAX" i disagree, the 3d was necessary. pick a big screen and a big crowd and have a blast at this disturbing encouragement of an orphan's murder at the hands of another orphan. But, don't fret, i am not talking about harry vs voldemort. its more like voldemort vs. voldemort, so the bloodlust is perfectly fine for a kids film, but, don't worry, by this point in the series, all the kids watching from ten years ago have grown up and can handle this film for BOTH adults and kids! Enjoy!
this movie is funded by the starlight foundation, a company that does not get the press the make-a-wish people do. they do the same thing the wish people do: grant wishes for kids like me when i was 17, the only difference is the wishes are for kids who are NOT dying, just sick, the kids with chronic illnesses, like hemophilia. since having a chronic illness is disappointing, not dramatic, like the movies we all love, the boy in the plastic bubble, for example, this movie does not excel at being a great flick, but, see it anyway, because it does a great job capturing the disappointment kids like me have felt at finding out that we are going to be sick forever, just like living with a bummer summer must feel like if judy had let that memory of a bad summer rule her life, but she changed her attitude, and scored a GREAT summer, and a darn good film. the life lesson for everyone is: change your attitude about everything, from illness to bad summers to crazy aunts, and the world will be as awesome as you let it! i may not have gotten to meet my idol, robert zemeckis, but my second choice rocked just as hard, Disney World! make your summer NOT a bummer by catching this flick!
This movie is like a tired journey down the same road, only this time, the stakes are higher, and the consequences more severe. Go see Kung Fu Panda 2 or Bridesmaids instead! anything but this tired old mule trekking along the same dirt path... Daniel
