Secretariat is one of the most beautiful and endearing films I have seen in some time. All of the actors were outstanding in their roles. The photography was exceptional and the closeups of the horse known as Big Red were wonderful. This is a great family film, and for anyone who loves horse racing or just has a love for animals....this is a must see!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

As someone who was "there" when Secretariat was racing, I was worried this would not live up to the real story - but it does. While it focuses too much on the people and not enough on the horse, and the racing scenes are rather disjointed (the ones in Seabiscuit were much better), it still does justice to "Big Red." There was a lot more story that could have been told; two hours is too short. I was pleased, however, to see sufficient attention given to Eddie Sweat, who never got enough recognition in real life. The one real problem I had was with John Malkovich playing Lucien Lauren - Lauren had been a jockey and thus was much shorter in real life. And I wish they had paid attention to the marking on Secretariat's face better; it kept changing length throughout the movie. But, that's nitpicking anyway - overall, a job well done!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

What a breath of fresh air: uplifting and heartwarming. Of course, a movie about the greatest race horse ever has a great story to start with, but this movie has everything -- great editing, good script, great acting. We went to the sneak preview and were so happy we did. It was good enough that the crowd, mostly older, broke out in applause at the end.

Hype has this movie billed as the "Blindside" movie of 2010...surprisingly, it really is!! If I could rate Secretariat with 'six stars' I would!! It is far beyond just excellent. This is a fanastic movie for every animal lover, and for the whole family! I think it is a great movie for all kids to see! I was fortunate enough to actually watch this horse win the Triple Crown live on television... and this movie shows all the hopes, dreams, and excitement of a nation hoping to see another Triple Crown winner. This horse gave the nation what they wanted, and so much more! The movie has an outstanding cast, and an excellent script! This movie doesn't deal with the gambling side of horse racing at all...just the pure beauty of the animals, and their want to run. Diane Lane is fanastic, and the rest of the cast is amazing! This movie is indeed: "the feel good movie of the year'!!

This movie brought back all the wonderful, exciting memories of seeing Secretariat run when I was a kid. It was so exciting and he was such a magnificent horse, I think the whole world loved him.

Horse lover or not, the expressions, passion and energy of this movie is a must see; again and again. My favorite role ever for John M, Diane Lane is tremendous. All of the cast of characters depict exactly what horse people have always known. "the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man". I believe that was Roosevelt.
Don't miss the outstanding footage of horses and the power of their beauty.

Good casting and supporting cast. They were fortunate that both writer and subject (ms Chenery) are able to provide help. The movie gives great insight into a horse that was truly one of a kind. His name is a household name in racing circles as everyone looks for the "next Secretariat" Time that race amateurs find out why. Photography and scenery was spot on.

A really great film that you can take the whole family to. Diane Lane and John Malkovich are totally believable as the owner and trainer of what may have been the greatest racehorse ever. The movie has just the right balance between people and horse: it would be tough to make a two-hour movie about what comes down to five races (Secretariat ran more, but five are what you see), but when you fill in the backstory of Penny Tweedy, it becomes much more than just a racing movie. And just like "Titanic", knowing the ending does NOT spoil the ride (literally, the ride - there are scenes shot from horseback which were just amazing!). For those who still look back fondly on Big Red, and want to re-live that thrilling story, this is a must-see. And judging by the crowd and the cheering, Secretariat STILL has a whole lot of fans out there.

What a ride! Loved every moment of it.
Thank goodness I knew that Secretariat did in fact win or I would not have been able to stay in my seat.
The cast was wonderful! Diane Lane - Great...
John Malkovich - amazing..."Ms. Hamm" warm and wonderful..."Big Red" had eyes that made you feel as if you were commumicating with him!
The music was wonderful...thought it was a
Hans Zimmer score with wonderful touches of Mavis Staples and other music of the time!
I am not easy to be brought to tears...but could not hold them back ....moments of happiness and sadness.

Secretariat is a fine cinematic triblute to an exceptional horse and the family that believed so strongly in him. It was refreshing to sit through and enjoy a movie that did not display gunfire and explosions as its" main features". I am sure Secretariat will introduce a new generation to strength, perseverance and "running your own race" with all the possible consequences life offers. Disney has a winner in this one.

20+ years after he was humanely put down, Secretariat, America's wonder Horse, still has a firm hold on our hearts and imaginations. Disney's new movie celebrating the achievements of this great horse and his team of human supporters does little to add to the already well known story, however it does such a good job of firing the audience's imagination that moviegoers cheered for the great horse to win the Kentucky derby. The movie stars Diane Lane in a lackluster effort as horse owner Penny Chenery, John Malkovitch as natty horse trainer Lucien Laurent, and Kevin Connolly, of entourage, in a nearly cameo role as horse reporter Bill Nack. If you're looking for great acting this isn't the movie for you, but if you're looking for a return to that magical summer of 73 when the wonder horse was on the cover of Time, Newsweek, and Sports Illustrated at the same time, or if you're just looking for something to cheer for in these tough times. Go see Secretariat and cheer him on to the finish.

Even knowing the outcome (more or less), this is a gripping story, and well worth seeing on the big screen just to see a thoroughbred run in super-slow motion all the way across the screen. It's a Disney movie, so it's thin (it almost ignores the obvious race and class issues in the story), but it's entertaining...and it really is a good story about the team of people and a horse who made such an extraordinary thing happen.

This movie was absolutely superb in every way. With an incredibly rich story line of courage, perseverance, and the will to win, it is most definitely a film for the entire family. The cinematography and sound editing are first rate and worthy of accolades. Diane Lane's performance is strong and she was perfect in this role. This is a movie that must not be missed. What a wonderful movie. Adults and children alike will fall in love with this story. My 9 year old daughter got somewhat of a history lesson in a form that she could appreciate and understand. I got a reminder that anything is possible and dreams shouldn't be put on hold forever, even in this economy, and when you have a job and a family to raise. Secretariat gave us some of his heart, endurance, and courage to take home and apply to our lives.
