Secretariat is still America's Horse

20+ years after he was humanely put down, Secretariat, America's wonder Horse, still has a firm hold on our hearts and imaginations. Disney's new movie celebrating the achievements of this great horse and his team of human supporters does little to add to the already well known story, however it does such a good job of firing the audience's imagination that moviegoers cheered for the great horse to win the Kentucky derby. The movie stars Diane Lane in a lackluster effort as horse owner Penny Chenery, John Malkovitch as natty horse trainer Lucien Laurent, and Kevin Connolly, of entourage, in a nearly cameo role as horse reporter Bill Nack. If you're looking for great acting this isn't the movie for you, but if you're looking for a return to that magical summer of 73 when the wonder horse was on the cover of Time, Newsweek, and Sports Illustrated at the same time, or if you're just looking for something to cheer for in these tough times. Go see Secretariat and cheer him on to the finish.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I have never been a huge fan of the Indiana Jones Franchise, but I did enjoy the action in the previous movies. If you're looking for unbelievable action, far flung car (?) chases, and a wrap up of the franchise(hopefully) this is the movie for you. Just don't come looking for thought provoking plot, exceptional acting, or deep social meaning. I enjoyed the movie, I really did. It delivered at an average level what most movies of this type deliver. It really wasn't much different than the latest Nicholas Cage National Treasure flick, and I enjoyed that too. But was it worth all the hype? No. Is it the movie of the summer? I hope not.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
