As someone who was "there" when Secretariat was racing, I was worried this would not live up to the real story - but it does. While it focuses too much on the people and not enough on the horse, and the racing scenes are rather disjointed (the ones in Seabiscuit were much better), it still does justice to "Big Red." There was a lot more story that could have been told; two hours is too short. I was pleased, however, to see sufficient attention given to Eddie Sweat, who never got enough recognition in real life. The one real problem I had was with John Malkovich playing Lucien Lauren - Lauren had been a jockey and thus was much shorter in real life. And I wish they had paid attention to the marking on Secretariat's face better; it kept changing length throughout the movie. But, that's nitpicking anyway - overall, a job well done!
