After all the hype and expectation, I was not disappointed. The technical work was astounding, and even though the retro 3D glasses were uncomfortable, the 3D feature added to the marvel. Facial/body communication was amazing, and even though the plot was simplistic and overused, it forged a foundation for future sequels--hopefully sooner rather than later. See it for the utter pleasure, and leave the sociological discussions for later.

The CGI characters and setting in this movie were absolutely stunning, I have never been less aware that I was watching a movie in my life. By that I mean that the way this movie was done allowed me to be completely submersed into this alien moon and its people. The only complaint I would have is that I wish they had given us more background on the location of the planet/moon where the movie is set and a better background explanation of the forest, animals, and Na'vi that inhabit it. Otherwise, absolutely stunning, easily one of the best movies that I've seen in a very long while.

A wonderful movie experience. James Cameron does it again! I am so glad he waited for technology to match the wonderful story line. Although Cameron's movies carry a common them about "mother earth or saving the earth", I enjoy them because they are done with great detail (for some too much) but always spectacular. I had one great nephew (6 yrs) on one side and the other (11 years) on the other side of me and they BOTH were riveted in their seats the entire movie as was I and I am 56! Therefore I would confidently say this movies appeals to most all ages!

Avatar is definitely one of the best movies i've seen. The graphics were insane, and the story line was amazing! Watch it on 3D, it's worth every penny. I'm glad that this is the last movie I watched in 2009 =)

I will be surprised if this movie does not win a large number of awards. This was an entirely enjoyable movie. My wife (who is not an animation or science fiction fan) did not leave her seat during this movie. I want to see it again. Especially in 3D which is how I saw it the first time.

I enjoyed the special effects and the visuals of Avatar and think it is worth seeing for those reasons. I thought the story was very predictable and was not impress with the script . It was a feel good movie at the end with the good guys winning. It also made me wonder why we as humans have shed our tails, they seem so useful.

Bottom line it is a MUST SEE! 2hrs 40mins flew bye. Truly transported to a different place through the realism of the CGI. BUT it was the Disney story of Pocahontas. I don't understand why the is story lacked the creativity in what would have rounded out one of the BEST graphics movie ever made. I am sincerely surprised Disney isn't suing Mr. Cameron. I mean really, a tree that is the spirit and soul of the people? I kept thinking the name of the tree would be Grandmother Willow and John Smith was the Avatar. As I said the movie is a MUST SEE despite the short comings!

My biggest fear about this movies was that it would turn out to be more a computer game then a movie. Though I found the plot somewhat simplistic and some of the science less the accurate, it was still an extremely enjoyable experience. The characters were real not caricatures. The plot line had some unexpected and interesting twists. The computer generated graphics were excellent and believable. My measure of how good a movie is, is normally determined by how many time I look at my watch during the performance. I'm delighted to say that I didn't look at my watch even once. Excellent Job Mr. Cameron.

This movie is amazing for both the visual effects and the story line. The story is about understanding other cultures from their point of view by living in them and learning their way of life. The moral of the story is that we shouldn't consider our culture superior to primitive cultures. The cultures of primitive people can be amazingly beautiful and complex if only we take the time to put ourselves in their shoes. This movie is right up there with movies like Crash for the story and moral and 2012 for the visual effects but for beauty, not destruction and chaos.

My preconceived notion was that Avatar was too science-fiction. Had to see for myself. Human roles of the sexes are typical. Equal standing among the otherworldly Avatar sexes. Nothing new here. Visuals are amazing; you're getting what you went to the movie for in the first place - to be "transported" for a little while. A lengthy movie, the storyline is shallow - unless you are willing to look at the spiritually themed undertones - the Tree of Life, the built-in power connection (the Avatar tail) to life, Mother God, being born twice, gathering together in prayer and so on. Avatar could have had a deeper storyline but it is still a 3D flick worth seeing. I would give it a C+.

I was expecting to be impressed by seeing the trailers, but I was in no way ready for the spectacular visuals. The colors were as exciting as the action. This film was not just a "pretty" action film but there was a definite message regarding our environmental issues and saving resources. The action scenes brought me to the edge off my seat. Interestingly, I haven't heard an audience clap at a movie in years, but when the climatic scene played out the entire theatre broke into applause. I would recommend this film highly.

It's a real challenge to meet the hype that was built around the movie, but it was quite a ride. It is was great to see the creative genius of the amazing team of digital creators that brought this film to screen. It seems that we all want to be launched into another world with new and exciting interpretations to other worlds and adventures, but Cameron did that. The credits song sounded just like Titanic. I guess it is understandable seem the team of Cameron and Horner did amazing work with Titianic.

3D at it's best! I don't go to many movies but this was one well worth seeing.

The story line was lacking and predictable, but the effects seeing it in 3D were awesome. I would recommend it for anyone to see for the effects alone.

It was a nice surprise that the movie was enjoyable; action packed and good story line. Was very pleased with the graphics and sound. The hype is well deserved. James Cameron nailed this one!

James Cameron has broken the mold again with Avatar. The special effects are revolutionary; you've never seen anything like this. They integrate seamlessly with the story. You quickly forget that most of what you're seeing isn't "real", whatever that is these days. The actors all do good work in this movie. The 3D goes beyond anything I've personally seen, and I've seen 3D going back to the 60's. And if the storyline does take us back to our historical past, maybe that's not a bad thing. Sometimes it's good to be reminded of what we're capable of in the name of greed. I highly recommend this movie.
