The special effects were excellent, but the movie was pieces of the same old same old-cowboys and Indians, the ewoks vs. the machines, and it was much longer than it needed to be.
The movie was supposed to be set in the 50's, not made in the 50's. . The miniatures were done much better in the Japanese movies of the 50's. Practically the entire movie took place on a badly designed set. just like movies of the 50's. Totally different than the first two with all the outside scenes. Why do they make the star a baffoon when he comes back older? He got better later, but the damage was done. Cliche after cliche, and the most cliche of all 1950's ending. How could Spielberg and Lucas bring in such an incredibly low-budget looking movie?
