The visuals were fantastic, the story line predictable, the length of the movie a little long. My wife got nauseous from sitting to close. We were on the main floor, not on the riser. Said it felt like she was on a roller coaster. The ending leads one to believe a sequel will happen. Next, I want to see this movie in an IMAX theatre. Make sure you get to the theatre early. We arrived 20 minutes before the movie and the line was wrapped around the hall.

This was the first 3D movie I've ever seen and it was stunning. I highly recommend seeing it in 3D. The story was amazing with a beautiful message about the nature of our reality and the relationship with the Earth and all living beings. One of the few movies I'd go see again in the theater.

With all the hype about the movie we were expecting the same impact as when we first saw Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars. Even Titanic had more of a storyline and visual impact.
The storyline was what we have seen before. America taking natural resources and destroying civilization's in the process. An important message but poorly presented.
The graphics and visual effects were amusing but not significantly better than other movies.
I was bored after the first hour and it got better once the action started but it was a "shootem up" movie from that point forward.

This movie has so much to offer. There are many hidden messages to get. I rarely see a movie at the theaters twice but I am going to see this one again, in 3D to pick up all the stuff I missed in the first go. I haven't been this entertained since the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The 3D didn't drive me crazy like it has in some other movies. It felt like a very good part of the story (except for the glasses which are never that comfortable for anyone). The special effects are amazing... but that review is obvious. The story line didn't bother me as much as it obviously bothered a lot of other people. I would say it is kind of "Dances with Wolves" with aliens. Yes, the messages are being beaten into you but it's a movie.

The visuals were stunning, 3D effects great and the story good. This was a bit of a twist on the old story about Humans wanting what others have and trying to get it at any cost. The scenery was unusual, exotic, beautifully done, as well as the flora and fauna. Even though much of the story was predictable, they even telegraphed what was to come, it held the interest of all of us from beginning to end. Our ages went from 10 years to 58. We all recommend this movie (A MUST IN 3D!) to anyone 13 and up, including some younger kids, if they are not scared by fighting or killing scenes.

Although the storyline is painfully predictable, the 3D special effects are truly fabulous. I just wish there would have been an 'edge of your seat' moment or two. The special effects in this movie are nothing short of spectacular. See it on the big screen - in 3D if possible. The story line is pretty simple, but adequate. It's NOT about the "noble savage" as some people think. It's about the obscene destructiveness of militarism and for-profit exploitation when it comes up against life itself. Before the movie started, there was a commercial for the National Guard showing gun-toting troops charging off in strange lands to get the mission of killing done. It was touted as really fun, something to be proud of. THATS what the movie is really about.

Despite having to sit in the front row of a sold out show, Avatar in 3D was incredible.
It covered every one of my favorite movie types, from SciFi to Western. It was Last of the Dog Men and Dances with Wolves meets Lion King meets Transformers and GI Joe (yes, most of the movies I see are family driven)!

I went in a bit skeptical and was totally drawn into the story. The blending of the two worlds was very well done and I would highly recommend this to ALL my family and friends. I was dreading the length ov the movie - but the time flew by. The graphics are AMAZING. Looking forward to the next one!!!!!!!

I absolutely loved Avatar! I saw it last night and I am so happy that we saw it on the big screen. The storyline was superbly written--with a deep message for those who are open to it. There are many stories woven into one, but the most striking for me is the story about American arrogance and how we think we know best and that we need to teach indigenous cultures how to be "civilized". This movie shows us another way--that we can learn from the indigenous how to be in attunement with nature, with the Source, and with the animals, and that we have a LOT to learn from indigenous cultures. The love story is intertwined with an initiation story, and it is beautifully rendered. Thank you, James Cameron!
