This is one of the best movies I have seen! The special effects are beyond excellent. The story line is as old as time -- kind of like when the white man raided the native american lands for their own greed......I highly recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see one about a good fight, a love story and a somewhat happy ending, all in one movie!

James Cameron is a master. The movie is not simply visually breathtaking, but brings home what should be important in the world. Far from home, one member of our species risks all to save another from human greed, destruction and lack of moral center. The CGI world created by the film makers is fascinating, the characters engaging and the story epic. The 3D effect adds much to the texture and graphic beauty and believability. This is a world you hope exists and is worth saving. I would hope that this movie becomes a classic in the realm of the Wizard of Oz, It's a Wonderful Life and others. You simply have to see this movie.

both my husband and I really enjoyed the movie. I left it was very well done and can see why it was so expensive to make. I would recommend seeing at the movies in 3 D, as I think once it comes to video you'll loose a lot.

Before Avatar was even half over, I turned to my wife and told her it's become one of my top five favorite movies of all time. The story line is beautiful, the actors are amazing, and the special effects have taken movies to a brand new level, the same way Star Wars did for its time period and The Matrix did for its period.
We're definitely planning on seeing it again in the theater. You've GOT to see this movie!

This was the most we have seen in 10 years! The special effects were phenomenol, the story line was cutting edge and we left the theater saying "Wow!" What more can you ask from a movie? You have to go see it in 3D if you can, though. The 3D effects brought us right into the movie and we were part of it. If we could give it more than 5 stars, we would give it a 10. Go see it! But leave the little kids at home.

I will say that Avatar is probably the most visually stunning film ever done, and probably the most seamless use of computer generated imagery. The motion capture, effects, and overall look of the film are amazing. I will never debate that.
But I could literally see every plot point coming a mile away, and the reason for this is that we've all seen this same movie done before.
We keep jokingly calling it "dances with blue people". Spend the extra few bucks to see it on Imax or in 3D. If you can't do either of these, go to a theatre with DLP screens. It really makes the color pop.
Good movie. Not great. Good.

It is the best movie I've seen so far. Beyond beautiful and seemless with everything. Loved the story line - so many different ways to relate that everyone can feel they have some understanding and empathy. I so wish this was a real place and that our own bodies had their abilities! Just breathtaking. We saw it in 3D at our local theater b/c IMAX was sold out - you really felt so into the movie that I almost didn't notice the 3D after about 20 mins. I dreamt of being an Avatar the night after we watched the movie, and wish I could dream that every night. My hats off to you James Cameron - best movie I've ever seen and a favorite for the rest of my life.

The movie was much better than I expected. The outstanding visuals were enhanced by the 3D effect. The story is not totally original, think "Dances With Wolves", and the theme of man fighting nature is not new. However, the film is very enjoyable and I will recommend it to my friends.

This movie was amazing. I would see it again. My husband does not like science fiction and he liked it and would see it again. I am calling all my friends and family and telling them to go see it. The planet Pandora is so beautiful. The message of living with nature and preserving it is something we should all hear. The horses and flying things they ride are amazing. We were so excited about it that we couldn't sleep when we got home.

I give this 3 stars on the technical achievement, which is as amazing as Titanic for James Cameron. However, I wasn't as thrilled as most other people are with the movie as an artistic work. The ecology message and storyline is as expected as old as the hills. "Save your planet or your planet will get you back." This movie rips scenes and lines from classic blockbusters left and right-- the corny lines, scenes and nuances from Top Gun, Star Wars, and the like abound. at times this movie is downright corny. Some of the characters are more like cartoons. After a while after a while it got rather boring watching blue people fill the screen. A must-see, but not an award winner.

Put on those glasses and for the first 15 minutes I was stunned by the 3D, the graphics, the effects. Thereafter, I simply felt like I was living in the future.
The story line itself was pretty much like Disney's Pocahontas.
We don't often go to the theater anymore. This film is not only worth the ticket price, it is a must see in the theater.

Moving and exciting film. Predictable plot, but still important. It made me want to volunteer to stop the destruction of the rain forest and it's people. The special effects were awesome and amazing. I am a 52 year old grandmother and decided to take my 10 & 7 year old grandchildren to see Avatar. I was a little concerned that it would be too long for them....and thought that I wouldn't enjoy it since I am not much of a sci-fi moviegoer.
I was so wrong. The kids were mesmerized and basically didn't even move enough to eat popcorn! And I was thoroughly engrossed in the story line.
It was nothing that I expected and I was totally impressed with the animation and special effects.
Definitely 5 star!

While the technology of this movie was impressive the tale that lies behind this movie was so full of left wing agenda. This was truly Blackwater vs. the American Indian, or any indigenous people. I am still not sure what I thought of it overall... but I will say it was a great feat of cinematography.

Visually stunning, sometimes the 3-D is a little overwhelming, but you have to see it to believe it. It does have some predictable plot elements, but you really forget about them as you become imersed in the flow of the movie. My only complaint is the political jabs at the last administration, really give me a break Cameron. By far the weakest link in the movie. It made me laugh to see how simple minded he is, and in 5 years people will be like what was that all about? W and his administration were one of the best in our generation.
