I would highly recommend this movie to anyone. It was beautiful to watch and the story line even though predictable is one we need to hear over and over again. I found that the time flew by and I was sorry when it was over. The 3D was like none I have ever seen. I took my grandchildren and they were mesmerized by it even though they had seen it before on the regular screed. Don't miss it. !

I did not fall in love with Avatar. I'd much rather see people interacting than "perceived" people generated by CGI (and let's face it that's the hype) Cameron is a novel film maker and I'm a huge fan of the original Terminator and Aliens 1 & 2. The story that drives Avatar seems second rate and a second thought. With all the bells and whistles you'd think the director would let the story shine with more imagination. As an African American I am pretty over the white guy saving the day (was there any plausible reason to give the Navi braids and make them sound afrocentric) Avatar is a thrill ride with a heartfelt message. I just wish the messenger was the same race as the Navi. Then maybe the movie wouldn't seem so self serving. B-

Everyone knows that the special effects are wonderful. (I'd love to know how many minutes of non-bluescreen acting there actually are - 5, 6?) This is also a classic fantasy, with the expected characters and story arch - the alien who finds acceptance, the messiah who saves his people and is reborn, the spiritual vs. the mechanical. It might have been a more imaginative story line, but it has the feelgood ending people want.

typical brain washing movie. Some of the 3D effects were worth going for, but the story was slow. The actors weren't that good and I didn't like them saying that the Earth wasn't GREEN enough. This is an amazing adventure that opens the doors in my mind for some serious 'what ifs'. The visual effects alone should keep our nationwide lack of attention span happily amused throughout the movie. I know that everyone is entitled to their opinion, so my opinion is that anyone that couldnt sit through this 2hr40min film and thought it lacked depth... well that person has no imagination what so ever.

Several times during the movie, I realized that I had become wonderfully caught up in a beautifully orchestrated fantasy tale! it was SO entertaining! Avatar in 3D is the best movie I have seen in a long time, not just for the creativity and story, but for the significant amount of realism which is so difficult to achieve in a computer generated movie. I highly recommend seeing this in 3D.

The technology in this film is spectacular, but the editing was abominable. Couldn't this have been pared to an hour, maybe an hour and 20 minutes? The plot is very ordinary and predictable. It's the vehicle that allows the techies to do their thing. I wouldn't recommend this film for children under 11. It wasn't my kind of fantasy and probably wouldn't be theirs.

What an experience! the 3D was immersive, the settings were wondrous, the very concept was just great. It's depressing that there won't be anything like it again for several years. This movie is so far above anything that came before it. I think 3D is only going to continue to improve. The theater that I visited to see this had a digital copy of the movie, not actual film! It was stored on a hard drive!

I saw Avatar in IMAX 3D...all I can say is WOW!!! It was great. The special effects were top notch, the 3D effects were really awesome in IMAX. If you have an IMAX theater near by, this movie is a MUST SEE in IMAX 3D. Our theater had it in standard format, std 3D and 3D IMAX. It's was well worth a few bucks more for the IMAX experience. Make sure you use the rest room before you go in...you don't want to miss any of it as it's almost 3hrs long. As for the story line...pretty neat fantasy to come out of James Cameron’s mind. . Love the fact that humans were the “Bad Guys”. Makes me think a little more about our own attitude towards others and our environment. WILL see it again!

2 words are all you need to review this movie. "Simply Amazing"!!!!!! Now on with the rest of the review. The plot was similar to other movies a civilization in trouble, guy becomes the hero, he saves the city gets the girl and everyone is happy. However with that said the movie effects and animation and the look and feel of the movie are superb a true mastery of visual and sound effects. I feel the 3d aspect of this movie did add a sense of realization a few times I swatted in my face cause I thought a bug or dirt was on me. I may go see this movie 2 or 3 more times as I did with Titanic.

This movie was not only original in many ways, but the visual experience alone makes it a must see. I have never seen anything like it, but I hope to see more movies like it in the future.

Not since I was a child has a movie pulled me into its imaginary world. The astounding CGI combined with cutting edge 3D managed that quite handily.
To those who call a native belief in reincarnation "garbage", I can only say that it is no more garbage than western religion's belief in a magically sired savior (which, by the way, we also see in Avatar). So choose your words carefully when deriding a cultural belief. It's too easy to be exposed as a fool.
The beautifully rendered moon Pandora is lush and green and the indigenous Na'vi are so convincing that within minutes, the moviegoer can find himself feeling as though he lived in the beautiful, albeit dangerous, world. 750 characters is not enough to praise Cameron's work here.
