Rifftrax does it again! A great riff on a classic (really?!?) children's movie. I'll be buying this one when it's released. I have to tell you, if you ever have a chance to see Rifftrax live, don't hesitate. It's even more fun in person. This movie was accompanied by an existential short clearly inspired by an early 70's acid trip as well as 2 shorts by Lauren Kyanka, a brilliant writer in her own right. All of it is hilarious. Don't miss it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A Great Finale to The Shrek Series

Dreamworks does it again in this fun and thought provoking final touch to the popular Shrek franchise. The movie's first moments show us a Shrek who has become disillusioned by his calm family life and dreams of the good old bad old days. A few bad decisions later and Shrek finds his dream has become his worst nightmare. This time, Shrek is the one in need of rescue and Fiona is (literally) the Warrior Princess. Great for all ages, the movie is a must see.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The Movie was great, but...

Went to the 9:15pm show at the AMC Norwalk 20 with my daughter and wife. Tim Burton's take on Alice In Wonderland, while very different than Lewis Carroll's book, was enjoyable throughout. The 3D was well done, and Depp played a delightfully unhinged Mad Hatter. While the movie was great, the enjoyment was greatly hindered by the 80 degree theater. I asked the manager early in the movie to adjust the A/C and by the end of the movie, it was miserably warm. 15 minutes from the end, my wife went out and asked again. They said "Give us another 10 minutes.". If you want to see this great movie, I suggest seeing it (or any movie you want to enjoy fully) somewhere other than AMC 20 Norwalk.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not since I was a child has a movie pulled me into its imaginary world. The astounding CGI combined with cutting edge 3D managed that quite handily.
To those who call a native belief in reincarnation "garbage", I can only say that it is no more garbage than western religion's belief in a magically sired savior (which, by the way, we also see in Avatar). So choose your words carefully when deriding a cultural belief. It's too easy to be exposed as a fool.
The beautifully rendered moon Pandora is lush and green and the indigenous Na'vi are so convincing that within minutes, the moviegoer can find himself feeling as though he lived in the beautiful, albeit dangerous, world. 750 characters is not enough to praise Cameron's work here.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Another Great From Studio Ghibli

Ponyo (Gake no ue no Ponyo) takes it's rightful place as another timeless classic by Studio Ghibli. It seems Hayao Miyazaki can't miss. A compelling story, incredible (and typically classic) animation and great voice acting combine to make this movie an absolute must see for everyone, kids and adults alike. Don't miss it. I'll be seeing it again soon. If you haven't caught Studio Ghibli's other work, you need to see them all.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Half As Good As It Could Have Been

It's made clear that HP&tH-BP is but a springboard for the next movie by its slow plot & abrupt, but gratefully reached end. As a fan, I appreciate the necessary weight given to character development; the future films would suffer were not the details covered now. This is the strong point of the movie, & nearly makes up for a lack of action in comparison to the earlier films. A must for any serious Potter fan, but don't expect to be blown away by long wand duels & magical beasts, expect rather to be intrigued by the characters. Fans will be thrilled to see the characters expanded to new heights (and depths). I'd recommend it to any established fan, but a newbie might be turned off by the slow moving plot & two and a half hour length.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
