Saw this movie and was taken away majestically to another world. The details, the colors, the forest, nature in all its beauty ,the inner deep messages of avatar people. The special effects of the bodies the way they move, the animals, the plants and flowers just beautiful. The effects were dazzling, the story too thin, the acting non existent. Way too long for such a simple allegory. My college age son said it reminded him of Ferngully, except it had Robin Williams and the story wasn't much better. You can't deny it is an amazing movie to experience but after an hour of ooh ahhh, what's left but so what? Did Jim Cameron curry reviewers time is my big question. How else does the Times give it a non review and a personality puff piece?

Avatar in 3D was a very entertaining movie experience. I left the theater thoroughly pleased. However, I don't believe that it is the "ground breaking epic" that other reviews/web sites have hyped it up to be (hence the 4/5 rating rather than a perfect 5/5) . This movie is beautifully done, the CG characters and environements are lush and vibrant, though a bit video gam-ish at times. The characters are easy to relate to and can really draw you into the story. The plot, however seems borrowed: a fusion of Sci-Fi and Dances With Wolves, with a touch of Last Samurai thrown into the mix. Avatar is worth seeing in 3D, but expect to be highly entertained, not blown away.

My kids (16and 15) did not want to see this movie they thought it would be too childish but I convinced them otherwise. I am happy to say they were pleasantly surprised .Sigourney weaver was wonderful no surprise there. The movie was funny,sad action -packed romantic four movies in one my only disappointment is I'm finding the new moneymaking draw is to present the movie as a 3-D movie I didn't get that experience It felt more like a movie in High Def but with annoying glasses

This movie was incredible!! One of the best movies i have ever seen!! Overall the movie was good, but I expected a lot more from all of the hype. It was supposed to be a revolutionizing movie, but the story and plot was completely unoriginal. James Cameron basically plagerized the story from Dances w/ Wolves, The Last Samurai, or Pocohantas which everone you would like to pick. Cameron was so unoriginal that the sound track was basically the same as his earlier movie the Titanic. The technology was okay, but I didn't see what the big deal was about. The story line was so predictable that anyone could have wrote it. I can't say that I hated it though, it was entertaining. It just didn't provide anything groundbreaking or even original for that matter.

I wnet through IMAX website to buy 5 tickets on line. That directed me automatically through Movietickets.com.
At the theatre the management would only issue regular 3-d tickets, non-IMAX, 2 manager stating MOVIETICKETS.com frequently screws up such orders.
We never got to see AVATAR as a result - holiday treat ruined, complaints filed with CINEPLEX, IMAX and Better Business Bureau.

Add a dimension to the viewing, and remove one from the script. It's a given that there are a finite number of plot conceits available; here it's using every capitalist gimmick while bashing the same. For far less money, you can obtain a similar experience by downing a half bottle of nyquil and racing through the lighting section of home depot. The complexity of the forest scenes is amazing (nice, no doubt exhausting job weta!). This is entertainment for people who experience the outdoors through reality tv, xbox. If you are concerned about the environment your money would be better spent by skipping this 2+ hour slog and sending a check on over to the sierra club.

We went to see this movie with our children, hard enough to agree on a movie with children ranging in age from 16 to 7. They agreed, we went with no expectations. First off, this movie is not animated! The acting was something we have never seen. The special effects to be able to produce a movie like this is indescribable. The story wasn’t super deep nor was it filled with lots of twists but it was good none the less; the acting was better than average and the special effects where top-notch and breakthrough. The thing that impressed me most about this film was how accurately and realistically they were able to convey every emotion from very subtle to very expressive on the faces of the characters which usually is terrible in CGI (computer generated image) films with the exception of only a few. The only complaint I have about this film is it was ONLY 2hr and 40min and I wish it was 5.

Avatar is a visual experience like few others. You know that what you are watching is animation but, especially in 3D it is hard not to believe that you are there. The flying scenes are simply breathtaking. Sigourney Weaver starts off as a real nag but turns out to be a good character, while the jarhead in charge of security doesn't start out as a villain even if he turns into a cliche later on. There is good character development as you see the main character develop and learn from the not so primitive natives as he gets more and more comfortable with his Avatar. This is a visually stunning masterpiece that is worth multiple viewings even if the philosophy behind it is pure new age liberal hogwash.

This is a very good movie, and I would reccomend it very much. Very good story, lots of action and the characters are excellent in their preformances. It clearly connects to mother Earth, that man's very existance depends on the rain forests.

I was a little skeptical about all of the hype surrounding this movie, But it lived up to it all and more. We saw it in 3D, definatly would recommend that if you do see it that it is in 3D or IMAX 3D. We took our 7 & 8 year old children, they loved it too. I would pay to see this again.

Avatar combines the old fashion adventure/love story with amazing modern special effects. The not so gentle underlying environmental/tolerence messages were poignant and well integrated into the story. Very entertaining! A must see movie.

James Cameron you rock! This was fantastic! I wanted to move right in and become an Avatar too! The forest scenes were so incredible and details were phenominal - I could have sat through another 3 hours! It's definitely worth the extra to see it in 3D - I couldn't have imagined it any other way.
DON'T MISS THIS ON THE BIG SCREEN!!
