Avatar is a visual experience like few others. You know that what you are watching is animation but, especially in 3D it is hard not to believe that you are there. The flying scenes are simply breathtaking. Sigourney Weaver starts off as a real nag but turns out to be a good character, while the jarhead in charge of security doesn't start out as a villain even if he turns into a cliche later on. There is good character development as you see the main character develop and learn from the not so primitive natives as he gets more and more comfortable with his Avatar. This is a visually stunning masterpiece that is worth multiple viewings even if the philosophy behind it is pure new age liberal hogwash.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
