I read the comic well before the movie came out and let me just say this movie rocked. While it was not the same as the book, it was an excellent adaptation considering the book had some aspects the american populace probably couldnt handle. Needless to say Kickass was KICK-ASS!! it was funny, violent, and had a pretty damn good plot. And for anyone whos ever wanted to throw on a pair of tights and go fight crime, this is certainly a must see.

The reviews for Kick-Ass were impressive with one comparing it to Airplane. Basically, the material that I saw made the movie sound extremely funny.
Unfortunately, the potentially funny bits were flawed either with excessive realism or serious narration. For instance, the over-the-top combat skills of Hit Girl could have been funny without the overly realistic portrayals of bloody violence. Comic book violence (less bloody) would have done the trick and allowed the absurdity of her kicking the crap out of a room full of people to be funny.
I'm not saying the movie was horrible but I am saying that it was just plain average.

One of the best movies I've ever seen.
The film managed to do justice and pay homage to the comic book genre, while at the same time being totally original in its execution of the classic themes.
Even more impressive the violence, while somewhat unrealistic by the end, has very realistic consequences (e.g. getting stabbed once takes one of the kids totally out of the fight).
Finally, the story actually delivers up more than just violence-masturbation, it also manages to include a moving message about growing up, comradeship, and the loneliness of being young (almost like a John Hughes movie, only with guns and blood).

So, when I saw the first trailer for Kick-Ass, I had never heard of the graphic novel but I was intrigued. I went in not knowing what to expect. What I got was one of my new favorite movies to date.
This movie is super cool, funny, violent, action packed and it never lets up. A word of warning to the parents out there though, do not bring your little ones. The non-red band trailers can be misleading. It has plenty of cursing and gore.
I can't say enough about this movie but if I went on, I would basically be reiterating. Just go see it already!

I love this movie. Hit-Girl is my hero! The action sequences with Hit-Girl and Big-Daddy are sure to give you goosebumps. She totally steals the show. It's amazing that an 11 year old girl can be the ultimate Bad-Ass. She turns from a cute little girl to a foul mouth Assasin at the flick of a switch. Nicholas Cage does a great Job at Portraying her father (Big-Daddy) as well. This movie is alot of fun! If you have a sense of humor & you like graphic violence go see it.

This movie was perfect to me, it was like wanted meets watchmen, and it hit all the right beats for me. I feel like it managed to be more serious than expected, cause i was thinking it would be like a rated R spoof of superhero movies, and while it does deconstruct the genre, it really is its own movie, not just "not another superhero movie". The acting was on point, with hit girl being the stand out and really stealing the show. I think all the people rating this movie down because they say the violence is too much to be involving children need to realize this movie is rated R for a reason. We shouldnt rate it lower because its irresponible and kids might see it! that to me, is a responablity that falls on the parents, as this movie is clearly rated R. That note aside, i can wholely recommend this movie, especially if you like wanted because the tone is very similiar, it the best heads up i can give you as to what to expect. If you like action, humor, over the top violence, and just an all around bad ass time at the movie go see kick ass!

Since I did find it somewhat unsettling that an 11-year old character was involved with so much of the violence, I would recommend that parents not take their children to this film until they are at least in their mid-teens. But I found the movie to be very stylish, with great humor, spectacular action sequences, and a breakout performance from Chloe Moretz. For the right audience, a very entertaining time at the cinema.

The movie differed from the book in quite a few ways and lost some of the important underlying themes. That's not to say it wasn't good in it's own right, just different.
It was funny and kept me entertained the whole time. Unlike many people, I didn't find the violence that over the top. There have been plenty of movies just as violent if not more.
Overall, it was a movie that I don't regret seeing in theaters since I like supporting these kinds of offbeat movies.
My one gripe is that the music is extremely heavy handed. Much like visual effects, if you notice the music, someone isn't doing their job.

I've never been compelled to write a movie review until I saw this movie. It was disturbing to see kids this violent in a movie that, even though is rated "R", will bring the younger crowd. I had NO idea this movie would be this good. I thought it would be some kiddie coming of age flick. WRONG!!! A great clever story, actual good dialogue and action with a purpose. I would love to see this again.

This movie was AWESOME!!! Not at all what we expected. I would see it again. We are buying the DVD when it comes out. I have already told all of our friends, they should go see it. KICK ASS good time!!!!

The blood and gore was shocking. Words cannot really express. I actually thought it was a comedy that would cheer me up, all I could do was apologize for selecting the movie. Death, blood, violence and gore in the media is desensitizing the human race. No wonder people stand as spectators to watch other people getting viciously beaten. My group had to leave the movie. Buyer beware: R is the new Rated X.

This movie doesn't try to be anything it's not. It's all about kicking ass! The unsuspecting hero was in fact not Kick-Ass himself, but Hit Girl: an 11-year-old girl with katanas and a potty mouth. Every fight scene with her was pure entertainment. Go see this movie, if you're not a wuss.

I wasn't a fan of the comic book so I didn't know what to expect. The performance by the actress playing Hit Girl is worth the price of admission alone. Some parts of the movie drag a bit, and it seems like it doesn't know whether it wants to become a drama instead of a farce.
