How could they turn a lovely little book into an hour and a half movie? Well, pretty easily by the looks of things. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this movie and like I said, the creative people made it all seem so easy. From the plot, to the animation itself, to the voices (which were absolutely pitch perfect -- James Caan as the dad was a standout) -- everything couldn't have been better. Funny without even trying and a wonderful lump in the throat moment -- this movie had it all. I was disappointed to see far fewer people in the audience for this movie than the awful "Ice Age" movie, a movie I actually slept through. My 10 year old son loved it and I heartily recommend it to people of all ages.

We could not wait for this movie to arrive! My granddaughter loved parts of it (parts that coincided with the book), but I thought it was entertaining and delightful. The 3D effects were very good. I took my 8 and 17 year old daughters and we all loved the movie. The animation was bright and fun. The 3D was wonderful. There were a few I-didn't-really-need-to-see-that moments (I will never be able to eat nacho cheese sauce again) but the 8 year old loved those. Go see it!

I took my kids (ages 4 and 7) to this movie expecting a cute rendition of the book. Unfortunately, my kids and I were disappointed that the movie changed so many things about the book that we loved. This is the first "kid" movie since Shrek that I actually thouroughly enjoyed and did not take a little nap after my popcorn and diet coke. It was entertaining for adults as well as kids. The 3D effects were the best out of any 3D movie so far as well. I would recommend this movie for families and the 3D was actually good enough to pay the extra $ for. Steve tne monkey was the best!

I took my kids to this movie Friday night at the 7pm showing in 3D and truly enjoyed it. The characters were great, story was entertaining and original, 3D was great, and I really enjoyed Mr T as the voice of the security guard and Bruce Campbell as the Mayor. This movie had enough action and visual effects going on for my kids to be continually entertained along with an enough adult material to keep it engaging for the adults. Well worth the money and time in the theaters.

This movie was enjoyed by children and adults alike. We saw the 3D version, which made it even more fun. No bad language and a moral lesson to dream big and never give up. Also, it made a good point of wanting to much of a "good thing" and greed and can spell disaster. Highly recommended for families with elementary age and even young middle school children. Rated it a high 4 stars since, to me, it wasn't perfection and not sure if we would actually buy the movie to see over and over again.

I took my 8-year old daughter and her best friend to the 3D version of the movie. We had a great time watching the story unfold. Excellent plot, plot development, well fleshed out cast, and story arc. What was also interesting was the diversity of the cast, something that is often overlooked in cartoons. I took my son to this film as a dutiful father, having low expectations for anything with "Meatballs" in its title. I was stunned. I loved the characters and the voice talent (especially, being a child of the 70s, hearing the resonance of Mr. T again!). It was funny, to be sure; but also poignant, psychologically insightful, and culturally sardonic. Perhaps the most striking thing is that the film celebrates INTELLIGENCE and the bonding between the two very intelligent, and ultimately non-conformist, lead characters of aspiring mad scientist Steve and meteorologist Sam(antha). Bravo, bravo, bravo! The 3-D effects, of which I'm normally suspicious, were the best I've ever seen.
